Windows 10 Requires daily reboot or will slow to a crawl

Hi Guys i wonder if someone on here can help.

 

I'm running Windows 10 X64 Pro and unless i restart the system daily my system runs to a crawl, if i click a program it will take upwards of 30 seconds to open etc but after a reboot all is well.

 

The only thing i've noticed is when the system is running at a crawl windows is using a majorly high amount of system memory, usually over 20 of the 32GB i have installed.  I've tried running process explorer to see whats using that memory and nothing shows up so i'm wondering if its a memory leak.

 

Ram has been tested using memtest and also just by running it a stick a time and windows just does the same.  

 

I've scanned for malware using malwarebytes and spybot + my Antivirus which is Kaspersky Internet Security 2019 and nothing has been found.

 

Anyone shed any light on this?

Definitely sounds like a memory leak if you're pushing 20+ gigs and keeps climbing.. thats crazy amounts of RAM usage.. I have 32gb in my system and only ever get up to between 16-18 when I am live streaming and have tons of things open during so.

To me it sounds like a driver has a memory leak.

You need to find that driver, uninstall i, and install the latest version (assuming that the latest version has the issue fixed, else use an older version).

There is no tool, that I know of, that can show you how much a driver consume memory. You have to try and see everything: Chipset, SATA controller, graphics card, sound card/chip, printer, etc.

hehe. Well I can't think of what it is. Maybe some service or process that is taking up lots of resources

 

Try disabling startup programs.

Uninstall apps that could be doing this.

Anyone?? Im getting a little desperate now, ive updated all the drivers i can think of on my PC to the latest versions i can find and still im having the same issue.  Sometimes im having to restart the PC twice a day because its so slow it even refuses to load websites.  As soon as i restart the computer is flying along again for a few hours and then back to a crawl.

Thats a huge number of handles running.....you have more than 2.7 million handles running just on that screenshot. A process shouldn't be using more than about 2000-3000 handles, so either you have a ridiculous number of processes running (which doesnt seem the case), or one of them is causing an issue.

 

In task manager go to the Details tab, and add the column for 'handles' and see if theres any particular process for one of your applications at startup that could have a handle leak. If so it might be worth trying to disable it under the Startup tab and then have a reboot.

Autoruns generate large files, it's not just list of process running.

 

Anyway - I wanted few screenshots only, not whole file to analyze. Especially that Autoruns may have problems with reads them sometimes.

I was referring to @jimkirk363 screenshot above of task manager. 

Can see theres 2.7m handles running, instead of about ~150k handles for the number of processes/threads

Here is what the handles look like just after a reboot.  if u need a few screen shots of the handles when computer slows down again i can do that for u in a few hours.

just throwing this out there but did you try turning down you ram speed?

i had similar issues when my ram was set to a faster speed than rated

P.S its easier if you just sort the columns by handles, so you can see the top offenders

Then you dont have to post pages of screenshots as well

 

But that process is related to Asus Aura Sync, are you using aura? If so then you probably want to:

1. Clean it using the Aura Cleaning Tool  https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-5ZVBfED6aLM2Y1QjhYYjhtNmM (this link is from Asus documentation, weird they use google drive lol)

2. Install the latest version 1.07.22  https://www.asus.com/campaign/aura/us/download.html

 

If not, or if you can live without it for testing, i'd recommend to disable it under Startup and kill the process and see if your computer stays responsive.
