Want to add a second SSD, and do RAID 0

I bought a second SSD for my system (another 500 GB Samsung EVO) because I'm tired of constantly running out of space for games. I want to add this to my existing similar drive in RAID 0. I have an MSI Z170a Gaming M7 mobo. 

 

Will I need to reinstall Windows 10 when doing this, out can I just "merge" the drives and have it redistribute the files between them?

Just don't do raid, it's not worth the effort and problems.

A regular sata SSD is more speed than you will use anyway.

Don't mess with RAID 0. It's only for lolz and people who already have insane backup systems and absolutely need the speed; you most likely have neither of those, so just add the drive normally.

Hmm, survey seems to say "don't bother with the RAID 0" ... I don't really feel like doing a full reinstall of everything right now, so I guess I'll just add the drive. At some point when I do a fresh install I'll do RAID, but I think you're right that I won't really care about the speed boost. Thanks all replies!

What are you looking to speed up?

I personally go for moving the Windows install (mirror/clone/samsung software migration etc), to the fastest drive. And put games on the second.

 

This means Windows can disk trash, and the game can load, and the PC works as fast as it could for such a process, without much messing with settings.

 

Though currently I have 1 large SSD, and it's about as quick as having the 2 smaller ones I had previously (if not faster XD, because if only the game or windows is doing loading/writing it's twice as fast).

yea its not worth the hassle.... trying to do raid for a media server. a dam night mare....

It's handy for HDDs, I have 2 7200rpm drives in Raid 0 and it makes them read/write much faster (I'll eventually be setting up a caching server once I have the time), but for SSDs it wouldn't really be useful, they're already insanely fast.
