Dear left-handed people

Jurrunio

Do you guys actually care about whether the number pad (if you use one) is on your left or right?

Not really because i have one of those USB ones that is not apart of the keyboard so it can be on either side but i have it on the right because it can get in the way of my mouse.

I don't even use the numpad in the first place and, like firelighter487 there, use a right-handed mouse, anyways. Given that I don't use the numpad, I suppose I'd be okay with it being on the left or the right, or not existing at all.

I'd have to agree with firelight here, I am a leftie, but everything with my machine is configured as though I'm right. So, keypad on the right doesn't bother me at all. I'd actually find it odd if it was on the left.

What if they made lefty keyboards & all the keys were inverted

I did think about it myself already, too, but it's hard to say without actually testing such a setup. It'd surely take a good while of getting used to, since I've been using a right-handed mouse and regular keyboard for two decades now.

I myself, being right-handed (and mouse on the right hand side), actually wanted to have the number pad on the left. Because the one on my keyboard (both standalone keyboard and laptop keyboard) is on the right, the letter keys are displaced to the left which makes two hand typing a bit uncomfortable. Besides, when doing spreadsheets I'd like to control the mouse and number pad with different hands (and use the at the same time), but with both of them on my right, it's difficult. I'd rather have the number pad on my left.

I guess I'm the odd one among right handed people, that's why I'm asking those preferring the other hand.

You're not the only one. I hae a friend who is a righty and he prefers having the num pad on the left. That way, he can use his left hand on the num pad while using the mouse with the right hand.

  • 1 year later...

So I use the corsair k55 and can remap my keys with iCUE but games like csgo, wow, and fortnight you can remap them ingame and it works pretty well.

This shows my keyboard layout. Please try it out  and give me suggestions or just your thoughts on the idea
