Is it normal for cpu and gpu fans to get loud when vsync is turned off?

I realize that every time, I play arma 3 with vsync off and get to the man menu where my fps goes over 100 fps, the fans of my computer (either coming from my gpu or cpu) get louder. However, the system starts to quiet down either when i turn on vsync or play a scenario that lowers the fps. My cpu and gpu both are not heating up terribly according to msi afterburner and hwmonitor. Take note that my system is cooling with 1 rear case fan only (as I'm trying to replace my broken front case fan).

-PSU and GPU fan

Yes Vsync caps the frame rate so when it's off, the gpu has to render more frames (thus more stress on the card)

Like said above, the GPU works harder to put out more frames so temps go up, and so does the fan. V-sync isn’t all that great though, it can cause some stuttering. The best way is to limit it using the setting in the game (not all games have this)
