how hot should be cpus be?

i preordered the 9900k but it seems it gets very hot! but i dont know how hot it can be before it degrades with time? how hot should a cpu be to runn optimal and doesnt degrade with time?

this will be my first build

want to overclock to 4,9 or 5 ghz

CPU: Intel I9-9900K Motherboard: Asus ROG Maximus XI CODE RAM: 32 GB Corsair Vengeance PRO 3200MHZ GPU: Asus ROG 2080ti OC Storage: Samsung 970pro 2x1TB, 2Tb HDD Case: Lian Li PC O11 dynamic, Cooling:custom loop incoming, for now 360 rog ryujin!

You should try hitting something around 75°C but as that is unrealistic for the 9900K I would say 85°C would be fine

I try to keep it under 70c, but there are also people who go up to 80c. More than 90c is pure madness (Kappa)

What temps are you getting?

 

An Intel CPU should be fine under 90C, and many laptop manufacturers let their CPUs get up to 100C.

Workstation:

thanks i thought when it gets over 85 degrees it gets degraded and damaged!

degradation varies on speed, but to completely avoid degradation is impossible.

 

I myself draw the line on 75C with my desktop CPUs, but my laptop hits 85C all the time, sometimes blipping to thermal throttle point and there's not much I can do about that because I dont have time to repaste it.

im gouing with a 360 rad with the cpu so i will see how hot it can get!
