$30 windows from ebay safe?

mxk

Seeing how much windows 10 home costs is so silly, but then again I paid that much for windows 7. I would like to think this $30 windows usb drive with its license is safe, but the description says "I am a Microsoft Authorized Reseller". Guy has good reviews though, just wanted some second opinions. I'll probably buy a new copy but if I have the chance to risk it and save $70...

Why can't you try with Win7 key? It was still working 3 months ago. You can always get new key later if its not working after installing.

Using eBay is better than many other marketplace sites. You risk losing key/activation at somepoint, but thats rare. So its more moral issue than anything else.

Why would a USB drive have a product key?  That's a red flag for me already.

Most cheap Windows 10 licenses are just sold with a product key only and you basically just download the installer bits from MS web site.

I love windows 7, but Microsoft is going to start making people pay if they want support in 2020, and I want support

I didn't say continue with using 7. You can upgrade to 10 and continue using same key.

Officially it is, but you can still do it. Some tech news site tested it in April, and as @LinusOnLine said, it still seems to just work.

If my old windows 7 key that I'm using on my main computer is OEM, won't I not be able to use it on a different PC? I'll probably just end up buying the new windows 7 key since they're so cheap now.

If the PC is pre-build, then its locked to that PC. If you would do upgrade on that hardware, and tie Win10 activation to your MS account, then you can move it. But I don't have a clue if it works or not when moved as Win7 key to new system and used on Win10 install there.

If it doesn't work I'll buy a windows 7 key and upgrade it to 10 like you suggested
