So here's a quick stupid question, if i buy a physical copy of a game do i need to use the disc to install it or can i just use the code and download it?

A store nearby is selling bo4 cheaper than battle.net so could i just buy it from there and use the validation code to download the game, i dont have my disk driver installed to my pc atm and i cba to strap it in for few euros

yes, this should be possible, im not sure for activision/blizzard games but i would imagine it being the same.

Current build: Ryzen 7 1700x, asus prime x370-pro, 16gb gskill trident z rgb, asus rog strix gtx 1070 ti, corsair rm650x, nzxt s340 elite, samsung 840 pro 256gb, 1.5tb hdd.

You can just type in the code, you dont need to use the disk.

Blizzard games can be registered on Battle.net.

 

Also works with older titles like Diablo 2 and Starcraft.

You only need the code. Works on all platforms. I've used that method in Origin and Steam mainly, but also added SC2 to my Battle.net account afterwards. If you have slow internet, getting base game from discs might even be faster.

Last time i did that was when Fallout 4 launched and back then the most frustrating thing was that it was one disk inside of it and i still had to download most of it. I mean its not that worse like GTA V where you had 12 Dvd still not all data and it took way longer than downloading on 6mb/s
