I'm looking for a new keyboard since my Strafe RGB developed key chattering (and occasional space bar failures) after just 8 months due to a few.. heated gaming sessions (Yes, I know, it's bad, I'm working on that). The 2 I have in mind now are (both with MX Reds) The Corsair K70 The Ducky One (RGB or White or No backlit, still can't decide) After asking on r/MechanicalKeyboards, most people seem to recommend me to avoid the Corsair like the plague and go with the Ducky, but I'd like some advice from another community to compare the opinions. My personal experience: I've owned a K95 before (until april of this year) and it lasted 3.5 years, even through the most heated of games where I punched my keyboard until most keys came off. (I've got better since, but damn that keyboard had seen hell and beyond) So, if I take my personal experience into account, that's my first time ever Corsair failed me. Also, I can't talk about Ducky, but they seem pretty nice and well built. Let's compare them: K70 (+) It has the same features as the Strafe and more. I use the Strafe's volume wheel a ton, as well as it's winlock key. I've gotten really used to it (+) RGB is pretty damn nice, my Strafe is my first RGB keyboard and it's good looking (IMHO). (-) Less durable Ducky (+) They seem to have a better build quality, as well as less QA issues. (+) Keycaps are standard, meaning that if I break one of them or that i just want a change in look, I can just order new ones anytime. (-) Uglier. I don't really like it's look, it's basic and the leds seem to be low quality (you can see a clear bright spot, the RGB is not uniform) Essentially, my heart tells me to go with the Corsair, because that's the one I'm sure to love, and my brain tell me to go with Ducky, even if it's uglier, because it's objectively a better board in terms of pure quality and it's the smarter purchase. I only ask because I've owned 4 mechanical gaming keyboards over the years and my favorite is actually the Logitech G610. But it only has white backlit keys. I actually personally would not give up backlit keys but I have my K70 set to static white anyways. Although I felt that the premium price of the K70 LUX is unnecessary. All I got was RGB, a wrist rest, and a USB pass through. And crappier software compared to Logitech. I'd say 20% of the time my static white profile doesn't even load, even after re-installing the software (my experience only). Posted October 10, 2018 I've had a corsair k95 keyboard for nearly 3 years. (Or maybe it's already been 3 years... I've lost track) and it's still just as reactive and performs just as if I recently took it out of the box. I can't speak for the ducky though. I'll wait until the price drops to 130 (160 is too much for that keyboard imo), maybe next week I'll pull the trigger. If you can get it on sale then I'd get it for sure, I don't really have any real complaints. Just that the G610 is amazing value. The overall keyboard is uglier than a K70 if we compare the looks. The ducky looks like plastic, but the Corsair is all metal which gives it a premium feel and it has extra RGB on top.
