Ryzen 2600 vs 2600x and/or aftermarket cooler

Hello dear linusteachtips forum users,

Im currently in the process of building a gaming rig in Canada and am not entirely sure what cpu-cpu cooler to get. Since I will be doing some moderate productive work, and because of the insane prices of intel cpus rn, I have narrowed my choice of cpu to either a ryzen 2600 or a 2600x.
I will be doing overclocking on either cpu for 2-4 cores in order to boost gaming performance, and am not sure what combination of cpu/cooler would be the best/price efficient. Is there any binning between 2600 and 2600x cpus, and if so would that be worth purchasing the higher end model for? Also, if I purchase the 2600 what aftermarket cooler should I get, and is it necessary to replace the 2600x's wraith spire cooler if looking to overclock.

Thank you guys in advance for your help!

Why'd you even consider intel cpus?

2600 and 2600x are exactly the same. I'd get a Hyper 212 Evo for whichever model you get.

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

intel cpu's are still better for gaming, which would be the primary purpose of this pc. something like the i5 8600k could easily provide me with 5-10% more in game performance, but its just too damn expensive due to the shortages rn

does amd not bin their x version cpu? that would be terrible value lmao

I have the 2600, and the bundled cooler isn't adequate if you want to run at max turbo at stock. It will start at 3.9 GHz all cores, dropping to 3.6-ish as it warms up. I have a Noctua D9L on mine now (spare from previous use) and it seems ok for 4.2 GHz all core overclock at 1.35v set, temps to ball park 75C under load. Haven't tested above that yet.

I think they do, but IIRC with the way ryzen is produced most chips are very close to each other in terms of performance. Honestly the reason to get a 2600x over non x is mostly for the single core xfr boost, which'll generally be higher than what you'll be able to get on all cores with an OC.

Doesn't really matter unless you're rocking a 2080ti and playing at 1080p. I exaggerate ofc, but the fps difference will still be unnoticeable.

Yea Ill probably go with the 2600 and spend the 50$ difference on an aftermarket cooler

All the X does is MAYBE get you a higher clock with a lower voltage. Performance is the same more or less.

2600 has a TDP of 65W and comes with Wraith STEALTH

2600X has TDP of 95W and comes with Wraith SPIRE

If you get the 2600 and plan to OC you will likely need to replace the stock cooler.

I have a 2600X coupled with a Dark Rock 4 cpu cooler and even then it's a bit of overkill. If I had to redo I'd maybe get the 2600 instead but it really doesn't matter. And compared to intel CPUs the difference isn't actually very noticeable and the 2600(X) offers better performance for workstations so that could be an added benefit.
