I like it when done well (see tridentz rgb, a handful of gpus and mobos) but nine times out of ten it's gaudy as all hell and gets a hard pass from me.

If a piece of hardware has RGB or not is not a factor when I'm buying. It just so happens that my motherboard, GPU, mouse and keyboard has RGB, and whatever it is, I put it to color cycling. I just wish everything was synced.

It also just happens that the after market player in my car has RGB, also color cycling (except when my phone's ringing, then it strobes)

the only RGB i will use is if it comes with the component or if i find some LED tape on sale, then i might underglow or something.. that or just glow my desk up

I like when it's done tastefully, like accents on, say, a cooler or something, but when the PC looks like a fucking LED it's stupid.

 

Lighting should be used to make a system look better than it already is, not by throwing as much as you can into it because "why not".

Loved it until I tried to go to sleep in the same room with it. Now I don't want it in anything. I wouldn't mind a backlit keyboard actually, but don't want that awful chiseled line font most are using. Sigh.

RGB doesn't bug me.  It has allowed me to make my rig orange themed for a lot less, since orange colored motherboards and the like all seem to carry a price premium for some reason.  

So now I can have RGB strips and fans, and just set the colors to orange.  

It doesn't bug me cause I can also just turn the RGB to a solid color, or off all the way.  

Plus, even if I don't want RGB, if I can get something RGB or not RGB that's decent for cheaper, I will.  I did the same with my PSU cause after mail in rebate, I only paid $40 for it.  It's a decent 750W fully modular PSU for $40.. I ain't complaining even with RGB.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.

I would rather have tiny OLED screens to display info than unicorn vomit. I used to like it but now I prefer it for only ambient lightning

As you sit there, rgb mouse in hand, rgb gaming chair, backlit keyboard and rgb backlit monitor in the darkness you feel a tap on your hand. Your cheeto dust has come to rise up.

No though I don't mind RGB since I don't really like my PC to be on my desk and certainly in no spot where tempered glass would make any difference to casual looks. I do use RGB mice (some Plixio crap and a Logitech G300S) and find it nice to let me know which DPI or macro setting I am on.

All of my builds have been in solid cases, no transparent panels at all. RGB on the keyboard to highlight specific keys based upon the particular application is pretty much all I've done.

 

Whenever I get around to my next build, I think I'll go with a glass panel with RGB if I can get the values for a dark gray (#303030) to be consistent. If not, then RGB will be off.

i wouldn't mind rgb on my gpu but thats about it. I do have rgb mouse, but i set the light to as dim as possible.

I wont use those 'fancy' keyboard of rgb coloring. simply white back light is the best. And i dont like rgb fans or RAMs. Its just so tacky. I want my PC to be as professional as possible even for personal use.

I love RGB but I don't really overuse it. I run my RAM, Mobo, mouse, and keyboard on static red (some white on the WASD keys and such on the keyboard), and the CPU cooler on white to match my EVGA 1080 SCs (they only have white, no RGB like on the FTW edition). I actually removed my RGB strip because it was too bright, I use RGB as the accent of my rig, not the main feature. Since it's a black/grey/silver rig I can pretty much change the RGB to anything on a whim and it matches, so it's pretty dope.

After being a console gamer for 30+ years, I recently built my first PC. I wasn't aware of the RGB trend when I began my research, but I quickly found out about it! I didn't have an opinion on it as I had no experience with it. I decided to approach my build the same way I used to modify my cars: performance > appearance. Once my wife and kids became involved, we ended up with a moderate amount of RGB: mobo, ram, gpu, fans, keyboard, mouse. This way we can all set our preference. My wife and I prefer static colors and the kids can go crazy if they want.

Im somebody who wants my build to FUNCTION well, and I could give 2 sh!ts about the rgb functionality.  My current setup has 1 blue case fan that came with the Rosewill Challenger case, and I guess it looks decent with the blue hidden behind the dust shield, but my case always sits out of sight.  I dont wanna spend extra $$ for something flashy that only I will ever see, so if I buy something new I AVOID the rgb unless the pricing doesnt matter.  I honestly find the flashy variety of rgb rather annoying, I like the goth PC more than anything.  All black sleek look is where it is at, maybe a little accent if it comes included. 

 

My keyboard (Corsair K70) has red backlighting, but again thats a functional thing that lets me see the keys in the dark better if needed, and i can turn it off if I want.

The only place I can tolerate lights, is the keyboard. And I need to be able to close them at the touch of a physical button.

The computer is in my bedroom, I've gone out of my way to rip off the LEDs that were on my fans and put black electrical tape over the ones I couldn't remove, just so I wouldn't see any light at night if I need to leave my PC open (like when I download a 50+GB game off steam)

I need total darkness to sleep at night, no lights, ever.

Things like "oh but you can close them with a software" is just extra step I'd rather avoid just to get rid of the lights, not to mention, extra bloat I'd rather avoid.

 

As such, if I can avoid RGB/LEDs, I will. Beside, it's quite rare that components with a bunch of lights on it will be cheaper than one without and you can be certain that my next build, most likely next year, won't feature any LED fluff.

I like RGB, I think it's one of the best things that happened to hardware. Why have a window on most builds if you can't add some light to them? Just like cables, we tried to hide them so much, now we try to show them with the sleeved variants! If anything it allows most people to make unique, striking builds without having to hack together led lights into hardware and voiding warranties.

i really don't care for it, i have no capacity for color combination and i don't want to be using the PC in a 60's disco style room.

I do care for a good looking, clean build.
