Hi, I was curious if anyone has tried (successfully, hopefully) to install the OS on a PS4 onto a gaming PC and if so, could you take me through a step by step process on how I could do that?

You could probably install it, but you won't be able to run games or anything im sure.

Consoles are proprietary

No one has, no one will be able to. Console Emulation is harder than it sounds.

Keep in mind the PS4 OS is closed, has no documentation and is designed for one set of hardware with minor revisions. Sony would never allow this.

Alternatives are emulating the PS4 and running the OS on that emulated hardware. The *general* rule of thumb is the newer the console, the harder to emulate.

I assume your reason for asking is playing PS4 exclusives without buying the hardware?

To the best of my knowledge there are no good ways to emulate a PS4, yet anyhow. From what we know it's some sort of AMD APU and an HD7970 GPU. We don't really know, though and there are no emulators that can run games reliably yet
