Stream PC with a 2400g. Should I do it?

Hi, I'm wondering if a 2400g will suffice for a stream PC. I've looked around and it seems that because of how OBS works, an integrated graphics solution like Intel Integrated Graphics won't suffice and an external GPU is needed. Albeit something simple like a gtx 1030 would suffice.

 

What I want to do is have a small form factor PC in the Mini-ITX format to act as a stream PC and also my auxiliary PC that I can carry around with me when I travel home so I will have a decently capable machine of playing some games. I also want to push my streams at 720p 60fps at about ~4000 kbps without resorting to the "super fast" preset on OBS. Because of the form factor limitation of Mini-ITX where there is only 1 PCI-E slot and my capture card takes up a PCI slot, I won't have room for an external graphics card and would have to resort to Micro-ATX which wouldn't be as fun as an idea as a Mini-ITX machine.

 

So will the 2400g 1) be enough to accomplish the stream encode goals I want? and 2) be able to handle OBS and other games (like League of Legends and Fortnite)? Also is there another solution that i'm not thinking of? I really want something Small Form Factor.

 

My current PC for stream capture is running an AMD Athlon x6 1100t , 4gb ddr3 ram, some radeon graphics card  and OBS sometimes drops frames and usually maxes out CPU usage. I am currently using SLOBS (StreamLabs OBS) instead of just OBS due to some usage improvements

2400g as a 720p streaming (but not gaming at the same time) machine, definitely yes.

 

2400g streaming 720p while playing LoL, yes

 

2400g streaming 720p while playing Fortnite, I doubt.

The 2400G with DDR4-3200 memory will play those games at 1080 low or 720p medium. Not while streaming, mind you. You have to choose one or the other.

Ah I should make it clear, I would have an external capture card taking the output from my main PC. That's why I need two PCI slots. Also would the 2400g scale to 1080p streaming?(Probably not needed)

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

1080p streaming is fine at 60fps, as long as the 2400g doesnt have other stuff to do.

They either have a dedicated stream PC that only does the stream from a capture card and no gaming at all, or they do both gaming and streaming on the same PC because it has enough horsepower (and NVENC encoder is "light" on resources as it uses the Nvidia GPU rather than the CPU, albeit at lower quality).

CPU encoding always has the best quality, so you need a beefy one.

You're missing the product sponsorship deal that gives you those parts for free in exchange for advertising them on your Twitch profile.

 

The 2700 (8c/16t) and 8700k (6c/12t) have more cores and threads than a 2400G (4c/8t), as well as higher clock speeds, and will perform better in the encoding tasks of CPU encoded streaming. The professional streamers will most likely be running a much more intensive stream, with 1440p 60fps or even 4k 60fps with a much better quality (slow) encoding preset that require the extra processing power. This won't be necessary for your use case.
