TechSource files manual copyright claim against video that alleges the robbery was staged, threatens legal action against "human garbage" creator

Syntaxvgm

I only Watched TechSource for those "Worst Setup Edition" Setup Wars episodes.

Do people really dislike his content? Or is it just this abuse of the copyright system that has everybody shitting on him?

Obviously I hate him for making this a copyright issue, but I was just curious if there was more that people feel about him because I don't watch him religiously.

I don't know TechSource from a hole in the wall. I've watched the channel here and there and recently subbed just to see how this all unfolds. I was a cop for a time and looking at it from that perspective I can say that anything is possible. His story is possible. Knowing who did it but not being able to prove it, is possible. This all being a fraud, is possible.

Some things I've mulled over..... Just questions I'd be asking myself if I was looking at this case.

The white van seems cliche but rentals for theft are common place. Typically (at least around here) they are usually standard large vehicles as they can be harder to pinpoint. There are only so many places that rent white commercial vans. It'd be one of the first things I'd look into.

They were pretty efficient in clearing out an entire office. I mean rewatch the video, nearly everything is gone. It is almost akin to a complete move.... in my experience scenes usually have more of the useless items left behind. All that fit in the one van? One trip? Maybe he didn't have much but considering the size of his channel and history of unboxings and projects there had to be a substantial amount of products there. I struggle that it was all crammed into one van load of that size, and done during that period of time. 30 minutes to empty that whole office? Again I suppose it is possible, but I question it.

If I was the investigator I'd seek more footage from the camera available dating back further to just see what kind of activity has been there leading up to the incident.

Again, I'm not accusing anyone, these are just questions I'd have if looking into this.

I understand he wants to clear the air but it really is in his best interest to not release such details and "try to get ahead" of any accusations. Lawyer up and let them handle it. The details he is sharing don't do much for the parties not involved (in this case, us the viewers) to satisfy the doubt he is getting. Manager wasn't able to confirm/deny it was in fact a robbery cause well... she can't. She can just confirm what was reported. The texts are about the same they add context to the reported incident sure. The insurance emails just raise more questions (I own a business and my Landlord would be up my ass about the insurance) about that situation. The Sheriff's Office if called about the issue most likely wouldn't say anything about the case other than they have a case... So I'll say it again. Lawyer up let them handle it and let the Detective handle it.

I hope the truth is sought and comes out to the benefit of the innocent.

The points he uses to defend himself don't prove anything they prove he asked for the footage, there is a detective on the case, etc which is all after the fact.

The way the van pulls up and the driver knows he/she can park inside seems with inside knowledge of his garage which as far as I saw some of his video's never cleary can be seen. And he should have more than 1 van of stuff so it's odd that it's cleared out with 1 van, as pc parts like gpu's are in bigger boxes that actually take up a lot of space, the internals of my pc were enough to fill the trunk of my skoda fabia.

Innocent until proven guilty but his track record is pretty bad...

I don't get how he says that a 30k camera is alot as he drives a Model X and has a fairly big youtube channel, normally that is on your company where again I don't understand that he doesn't have the camera insured or even his studio.

He has done many shady things over the years. Giveaways but blocks the winner on twitter, has promoted a shady streambox and some more things. Some one posted bunch of reddit links earlier, look into it.

No it's just that he's done shitty things, its not about his content. It's not for me, but I think a lot of people like it. It's how he became popular after all.

To remind you of something- the robbers (if real) were likely familiar with his videos and studied them.
A while ago when LMG was in the house, they had one video with one shot outside in the alley not showing much and in other vids some of the roofs of houses behind them,  using that I was able to find his real address for fun. Literally just by having a very broad general area, then identifying features in housing editions around him and narrowing down. I knew I was right as when I searched the address I found that someone else found it first. I've never been to his area, let alone Canada.

Commercial space is easy to find even if his address was not public, and the video basically provide them with a picture of where everything is and they knew whats worth money. If it's a real robbery is was a targeted attack not random.

It was really nice of them to sweep and dust the tables.

Indeed, I didn't suspect anything but the suspects being familiar and given he is a business he'd be easy to find through a listing at the secretary of state etc. For a time finding people was my job, put in the effort and you'll find them eventually.

But consider running to your PC setup disconnecting it as fast as possible and moving all its components from your office to a van down stairs in the garage. Even with two people doing a few setups like that, TVs, and everything else.... 30 minutes sure is fast and efficient. It's just my biggest hang up atm.

Copyright claim? On what? I know YouTube's copyright system is literal shit, but I'm not seeing the case for filing a copyright claim on something that doesn't seem to infringe on anything, really.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

But he had "racks" of GPU's and CPU's, Motherboards and cases all boxed.

The video showed that those racks were all empty imagine that this is one or 2 of linus' racks that would not fit in a small van like the one in the video and that in 30mins.

So either it wasn't all there or he sold alot of his review hardware already (which has been claimed before).

I agree, I had the same questions in my prior post. If I was the investigator I'd seek more footage from the camera available dating back further to just see what kind of activity has been there leading up to the incident. May see something there. It will be interesting to see how this gets resolved.

If he'd stop being shady and rigging his giveaways that get sponsored by the likes of Intel there would be a hell of a lot less backlash right now.

I've watched a few of his videos, he regularly recommends garbage parts like the overpriced i9 7700k and armor 1080ti, top of the line  motherboards with non k cpus, and basically always msi parts because any other brand is garbage according to him. Also he doesn't disclose sponsored videos, and half his videos are basically one long ad. He also has lost his mind at his viewers if they don't worship him

It's a bad channel at best, extremely dangerous and misleading to someone new to building pcs at worst.

Don't care about this amateur detective shit or past dirty laundry: A copyright claim cannot be used in a case you wish to pursue for libel instead so he probably fucked himself up already by doing that.

It's tempting to just claim the video and make sure it's just not seen but he should have followed the fucking rules and just submitted a flag for harassment. Those are not always seen true but it doesn't means that he should exploit an already broken copyright system to suppress something mean said about him whenever he has a libel case against him or not is not relevant to misuse: he should be fucking banned for submitting a false claim.
