1080p gaming - what is the best card for the price?

Brambo

So i currently have a 4770k i7 with 32gb of RAM.  Right now i'm rocking two GTX 760's running SLI but I feel like i want a better upgrade but i don't want to waste money.

I currently am using a https://www.amazon.com/LG-29UM58-P-21-UltraWide-Monitor/dp/B01B67KAQ4 for my monitor with plans to maybe upgrade in the future but not right now.

I currently want to upgrade to a single GTX 1070 to get off of SLI but I am not sure if upgrading any higher will just be a waste of money for 1080p 60hz gaming.

Any suggestions?

Well i thought a 1070 would be a good compromise, but i considered getting a 1080 and felt that would just be a waste of money

Rx580 would probably be the best for the buck option for this monitor if you can find it for under 250.

Gtx 1070 or vega 56 is needed if you want to play at all ultra + antialiasing.

1080p 60Hz, can't go wrong with a GTX 1060 on medium-high settings, GTX 1070 if you want high settings.

I play Overwatch, Rocket League, CSGO, and Fallout 4, all on 1080p 75Hz max settings, and I can always hit that 75FPS mark.

I would prefer to be at the highest graphics settings and have the smoothest gameplay possible while doing it. sounds like maybe a 1080 won't be a waste

The GTX 1080 Ti is the greatest gaming graphics card right now, although beware the RTX 2080 Ti is out sooner than you think and it's projected to be more than double the power of a GTX 1080 Ti.

I'd aim for the 1070Ti if you can find one of those used.

The 1070 is also a great choice. Especially since your UW panel has more pixels than a simple 1080p monitor.

For an ultrawide monitor like that, I'd say a used 980Ti would be a good deal. The 1070 should be able to handle it flawlessly as well. So, whatever your budget allows and whether or not you want a retail product or are willing to settle for a used product.

wihtout games that support DLSS, its only going to be 20-50% faster. If the game has DLSS, then its going to be over 2x the performance of a 1080 ti

^^^ I have both a 1080 and 980 Ti in separate rigs and the 980 Ti is all you need for 1080p. Unless you're trying to run Rise of the Tomb Raider with every possible setting maxed, then even my 1080 gets drops to 40fps or so in forested areas and such.

Go for the 1070.

Some people say the 1060 can do 60FPS at 1080P, but that's only if you're willing to compromise in the graphic settings.

Never think a card is too powerful for 1080P gaming. Games do get more demanding over time and the card that used to be perfect for 1080P will become useless in a couple of years. Meanwhile, the card that used to be overkill, is now getting a run for its money at 1080P.
