1080p 144 hz (decision help)

Hello,

I'm looking to get a 144 hz gaming monitor. I'm looking to play a lot of CS:GO, currently i'm using a 27 inch 60hz Samsung monitor. I found this monitor on amazon: Acer Gaming Monitor 24" XFA240 . There's also the BenQ monitor which costs $250, but a lot of pro's and what not use it. Why is that? What features does that monitor have to offer that sets it aside? BenQ Zowie XL2411P .

An RX 580/1060 is pretty good even for 120fps 1080p gaming at medium ish settings.

Depends. It's not possible in *for example* Assassin's Creed Origins, even on low settings (The 120FPS mark).
 

 

That's really broad statement as most games tend to not run at the same framerate even if graphics wise they are identical.

Yeah, would I need g sync for 1080p 144hz?

Short answer: The DAS mode cuts input lag by about half. Dynamic Action Sync should not be confused with FreeSync or any other rate-matching technology. It merely reduces input lag.

Oh okay, and with my 1080 would it be able to support a 144hz monitor?

What do you mean by support it ? The monitor is with 144hz panel so it doesn't matter which card you're using unless you put the refresh rate to less than 144.

If you ask if you're going to have equal or more fps (144) on your GTX 1080, then it depends on the game, on a triple A tittle I doubt. In a E-sports game, yes!

What’s DAS? Sorry. 

you don't need it, but it makes the experience better by eliminating screen tearing. Especially at high refresh rates.

However, this'll make the monitor cost $500+? There are no 1080p 144 hz 24 inch monitors for $200-300 ish?

G-sync is a waste of money, just buy a free-sync display for now and hope nvidia cares about freedom someday, will work just fine as a monitor.

There are actually far too many tbh. The ViewSonic XG2402 or XG2401 are really the only two I'm comfortable recommeding. You might also want to take a look at the Samsung C24FG70 which should get you a screen with better colors but slightly less motion performance.
