100 fps in CSGO with 1070 ti

travismoritz

my friend just built a pc yesterday with a ryzen 5 1600, 8gb ddr4 2400, gtx 1070 ti. He said he updated his drivers and everything but still is getting 100 fps in csgo, a not very demanding title. He said he had a micro atx mobo with only 1 pciE slot so i dont think he put it in the wrong one. Any ideas? All of his parts were brand new in case you're wondering.

I wouldnt be really surprised if that is the issue.

Running single channel RAM on a 6-core CPU will have very negative impact on CPU performance, especially on Ryzen.

why would that have such an impact?

Because you are starving the CPU for memory bandwidth with a single channel. You are getting only half of the bandwidth.

ok good to know. Thanks. He says that his old pc with an i5 6402p and rx480 outperformed this r5 2600 1070 ti machine, which isnt right. Would the ram be the issue, or does he need something like a bios update or something else.

Looking at some benchmarks, people are getting a lot more FPS even with SingleChannel.

So there may be an issue somewhere else as well.

Have he tried to install new drivers by removing the old ones using DDU first?
