why do so many people hate the magic mouse?

so i get to use an iMac at my internship, and that has a magic mouse... why does everyone hate it? 

 

i really like the ability to switch between desktops and fullscreen apps without needing keyboard shortcuts and stuff. 

 

but then i am someone who would rather use the trackpad on my macbook than a mouse... 

 

and to be clear this is purely for productivity. no gaming.

i found a workaround but that means using unofficial drivers... so i wouldn't do that.

The ergonomy shows a classic case of form over function. It's beautifully designed, but it's not designed with humans in mind.

agreed, that's dumb. but it's not like you need to charge it all the time. i would be fine with it. if it were low i'd just plug it in at the end of the day and it would be charged in the morning..

agreed they could have made it more comfortable with a different design. it's not so bad that it annoys me though.. like i can use it with no problems.

I just realised you answered your own question. Since you stated that the Magic mouse is mainly OSX compatible (from my previous query), and the fact that most Apple users have Macbooks instead of an iMac, they would not have a need to even buy the mouse because of the excellent trackpad.

Seems like a huge impact to productivity not having a mouse while it charges upside down.

 

I've had the same batteries in my Logitech mouse at my work desk for probably 4 years.

There's lots of people hating Apple with a burning passion. And not without reason.

The design of the mouse not allowing you to use it while it's charging is just one of those things that fuels those flames. Well, and it's objectively pretty stupid.

the design of a mouse fueling flames of hate? like come on most company's have made products with kinda dumb design in some aspects... like my asus 780Ti has green lights to indicate the power connectors are inserted correctly. but they don't turn off even if my pc is off and it's annoying at night sometimes... does that mean i hate asus? no...

It's not about the mouse. The mouse is just one of the things people like to complain about, but it's obviously not what caused the hate on Apple.
Most major brands bring out questionable designs at some point or the other.
The reason for the hate on Apple is simply the fact, they they're fucking their customers over left and right with horrible policies, faulty hardware that is designed to malfunction and the audacity to then blame it on the consumer instead of raising their production quality.

because it's like negative 5mm off of the table, slides horribly, is too flat, hard to click, downright painful to do the gestures while clicking if you have long fingers. 

It is 100% form, 0% function. 

Whoever designed the track pad for the macbooks must hate whatever excuse for a human designed this thing, and I wish that they are never allowed to use another mouse for any reason ever again in their life, a punishment worse than death

I mean how do you even make a mouse worse than the older one? 

This one was garbage, but at least it was barely usable. 

 

 

There are people that like the magic mouse, but there are also people that liked to be vacuum packed to a piece of plywood while someone impales their balls with high heels after edging them for an hour.

The ergonomics are crap, the charging port design is idiotic, keyboard shortcuts are infinitely superior to gestures, it's expensive and it doesn't work without a mac.
