Celsius is a poor measurement system, Fight ME!

JZStudios

Fahrenheit is better.  Because it more accurately describes the temperatures of human suitability.

0F is on the lower end of cold, much colder and long term survival requires engineering.

100F is on the upper end of hot.  much hotter, and again long term survival requires engineering.

So, in terms of "how hot is it outside" 90F will tell you a lot more than 30C (or whatever, fuck Celsius)

What level of engineering? Anything under 18c is COLD for me, anything below 40c is warm... So why should you decide what feels right?

Though I do prefer 30C. 90F (Googles it...) Wow, even I'd consider that getting uncomfortable. Where are you, Florida/Texa/Devils Vally?

You converted fahrenheit to ages? And now call that "science"? What? I think you need to take a good look in the mirror. Breath. Then come back and try to converse. ;)

No, C = (F - 32)×5/9 or F = C × 9/5 + 32.  Science doesn't involve a silly game of darts.  I think you need to take a good look in the mirror.  Breath. Then try to land a dart on the quote button.

But you quoted ages, not temperatures. So what are you talking about? You quoted random ages. What did you mean to say?

Quote

"Well, 32 year olds are losers.  10 year olds make fun of 50 year olds with childish over the hill jokes.  20 year olds want to add 1 for an immature joke.  30 year olds feel like they're 86.  40 year old's feel 104.  And lastly, I would 100 percent take a 212 evo if I can't get a decent deal on an h7."

(Did you mean to say that ages are like celcius?)

Im in Maryland.  Summers regularly have 90 - 100F days (the "real feel" exceed 110F at times).  and I can say 100% at 100F, i would have a rough time staying alive without A/C.

Similarly, winters here are fairly mild.  But we have had some days at or near 0F.  and that is fucking cold.  like a winter coat isnt gonna do the trick.  you would have a rough time without heat, or better insulation.

32F is 0C BTW.

and by "Engineering" i mean you need something more than extra layers of clothing.  Sure at 0F i could wear 3 dozen coats and be fine, but i like being about to move my arms.  so, heating would be great.

basically, without having context.  I can look at the temp in F and immediately know, close to 100 fuck its hot, close to 0 fuck its cold.  Typically I find comfort in the 30 - 80F range.

The only reason I use Fahrenheit is because I'm American so I have knowledge of how hot it would be outside if you told me it was 68 or 74 degrees Fahrenheit, but no idea of the difference between 26 or 30 Celsius, I'd just assume hot summer time weather.

3. Much like the metric system it's just not that accurate without going into "large" decimal values.

Hoooooo boy...

Let's do the math.

Earth's average temperature is 14.6 Celsius. The sun's is 5,505 Celsius.

See the problem?

Each number on your scale is 55 Celsius, or 131 degrees Fahrenheit if you insist.

Which means you'd see temperatures as:

1. Negative for anything below 14.6 C (60 F), which is ridiculous.

2. With an incredible amount of decimals. To convert to your system (I'll call it the poorly-thought-out-temperature-system or PTOTS for short) from celsius you add 14.6 and divide by 55. So 70 degrees F, 21 degrees C, is a whopping 0.65 PTOTS!

Congratulations, you've discovered the stupidest temperature measurement system yet! It's worse than both Fahrenheit and Celsius!

it's time

Americans use baro for QNH readings, which is a pain in the arse, it means trying to convert it into hPa for the FMC.

I'm bored. But Celsius is a pretty poor measurement system and there's always clowns telling people that it's better than Fahrenheit. Well let me tell you why you're wrong.

1. You're just simply used to Celsius. This whole argument really goes both ways.

2. It's arbitrary, and so is every other temperature scale. It's based on water but... why? What real relevance does that have?

3. Much like the metric system it's just not that accurate without going into "large" decimal values.

I mean, think about it. Why use the freezing and boiling point of water as the scale as opposed to something like the phase shift of Iron? There's a thing called the Delisle scale that places waters boiling point at zero and freezing at 150. It's based on the contraction of mercury. Celsius was they same way until they inverted the scale, of which Celsius the man used a Delisle scale.

Why don't we just use a scale where 0 is Earths average temperature and 100 is the suns average temperature?

Just use Kelvin like a B0SS :P
