If you're not gonna be doing file transfers all the time just the single 120GB ssd. Raid 0 just gives you extra performance by spliting the files wrtiten and read into the 2 SSDs.

You won't see much improvement in start up times or loading games either with an extra SSD.

Get the Crucial M4 if you're gonna go for the single 120gb ssd.

As an owner of a RAID 0 ssd config for boot heres what it comes down to:

in the RAID you are 2x as likely to loose data

you will get about 1.9x the speed of a single ssd

If you want to risk it for speed then you can.

RAID0 is really wasted on SSD's - except if you are doing some extreme benchmarking. Also, typically larger sized SSD's have better access times then smaller, so go wth the single drive.

it's just for system boot and games

thanks xiaopigs

i want improve game performance because i use to play MMO (AION) and with my old samsung HDD it's look really slow

I would agree with Xiaopigs

but personally i would go 2 SSD because i would rather the extra speed over all, you may not be able to notice it all but, its there when you need it

but then again i wouldnt get the 320, i would pay a bit more for the 520

but its really up to you they both have cons and pluses between 2 SSD or 1

the probleme is that intel 330 60GB look realy slow in benchmark

so do i really get better speed in this raid then one good 120Gb ssd

in my country there is only 180Gb for 520 series it's out of my budget

the smaller capacity the ssd is, the slower it is usually, I was talking interms of two 120gbs, with two 60gbs then expect about 1.6x performance of the single 120gb

Samsung 840 pro 128gb is really fast.

No need for 2 small ssd in raid0

I dont know to be honest but I would guess that in terms of GB per dollar you are better of getting one bigger drive..

and as others have said SSDs in raid doesnt really benefit you other than if you are benchmarking or transfering big files, and with 2 x 60gb I doubt thats what you are doing here.. :)

(Comming soon)

I would never do a raid 0 on two SSD's. Sure it will make a difference *in synthetic benchmarks*. There is almost no real world difference, except when you're constantly moving around large files (which you shouldn't do on an SSD anyway). It makes the system twice as vulnerable to data loss while having no real advantages. I'd say take a single 120GB.

Also, never blindly stare at the read/write of SSD's when you're choosing an SSD. All SSD's are fast and read/write will only show in synthetic benchmarks. You should always go for the most reliable SSD and not the fastest one (although most reliable SSD's are fast on paper as well).

Good examples are Samsung (830 and 840 Pro), Crucial M4, Intel etc..

In most cases if you have a RAID configuration, TRIM won't work. It's better to have a single drive than 2 in RAID 0 for reliability. SSD are very fast so you don't really nead much performances.

By default good SSDs (such as Cruial M4) are already fast as hell.. there is absolutly NO need for a RAID 0 config in all day use.. only if you do extreme file copieing or super duper outperforming of expensive SSDs

depending on the SATA controller you have, you should go for a single drive

if you have SATA 3 - 6Gb/s

then go for either one of these SSD

- OCZ vertex 4

- samsung 840

- intel 520

any of these are know to have maxed out the 6Gb/s on reads and writes even on 4k random ( equal to normal day to day use, specially the vertex 4 using its indilinx controller)

so if you dont have a SATA 3 6gb/s connection there is no use of getting a that high end drive because you will be limited to the SATA speeds.

if that is the case then go for a 2 SATA 2 3Gb/s SSDs on raid 0

because these days SSD are very reliable. and even if you are running a single drive you should be backing up your data to a separate HDD.

hope you get this figured out.

Without a question, go for a good quality ~120gb SSD.
