Should I get a MSI RX 580 8GB armor OC or an EVGA Gtx 1060 6gb acx 2.0?

Which one should I get?, I found them both in 195 and 210 respectively. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each one? I mostly do gaming and sometimes video editing.

Do you have a freesync or g-sync monitor? If freesync or neither get the rx 580.

Yes, I have 9 monitors.

My main PC (Hybrid Windows 10/Arch Linux):

OS: Arch Linux w/ XFCE DE (VFIO-Patched Kernel) as host OS, windows 10 as guest

CPU: Ryzen 9 3900X w/PBO on (6c 12t for host, 6c 12t for guest)

Cooler: Noctua NH-D15

Mobo: Asus X470-F Gaming

RAM: 32GB G-Skill Ripjaws V @ 3200MHz (12GB for host, 20GB for guest)

GPU: Guest: EVGA RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA Host: 2x Radeon HD 8470

SSDs: Guest: Samsung 850 evo 120 GB, Samsung 860 evo 1TB Host: Samsung 970 evo 500GB NVME

HDDs: 4x HGST Dekstar NAS 4TB @ 7200RPM (3 data, 1 parity)

Case: Sillverstone GD08B

Other: Added 3x Noctua NF-F12 intake, 2x Noctua NF-A8 exhaust, Inatek 5 port USB 3.0 expansion card with usb 3.0 front panel header

Details: 12GB ram, GTX 1080, USB card passed through to windows 10 VM. VM's OS drive is the SATA SSD. Rest of resources are for Plex, Duplicati, Spaghettidetective, Nextcloud, and game servers.

580 and 1060 are really close in performance, so since the 580 is cheaper, get that one.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

 

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

I'd avoid MSI. They're customer support sucks. If you must buy a 580 I heard good things about sapphire.

Having used both a 580 8G and a 1060 6G I will say that I have enjoyed my 580 much more. From what I can tell they are pretty close in performance but the additional 2G of Vram is nice and it seems like the 580 is better at brute forcing unoptimized software where as the 1060 can outperform the 580 in some cases but relies on the drivers being optimized. If you're looking for a card that will age better as well I would go 580 (personal experience as well with an aging 290x) also the 580 is usually cheaper so added bonus!
