Roku Issues with Hulu Live

We sub to Hulu Live TV and my dad has a Roku and me and my mom have Fire sticks. My dads Roku is having a hard time. It drops out and shudders from what he said. Just now on Hulu live tv it just dropped out of the app to the dancing Roku. On the CW app is where it was having skipping issue. It mostly worked when we had PSvue but they rasied prices twice in a year so we decided to try out Hulu. 

 

I think my dad has a Roku 3500 model. I know its a earlier model of the roku, it was actually the first streaming stick we had in the house. So what do you guy think, Hardware issue? Should we just get him a Fire stick and call it a day? 

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
