I know that. You did not understand my question. What if I buy a 400W UPS to backup my system power if my system consumes 500W power during any conditions...like gaming, video editing etc etc

If power shuts down will that 400W power from UPS damage my system?

From where did you get that information? What is the point of have a UPS if it'll only give 5 minutes... Most UPS will give you at least 15-45, depending on the load, battery capacity and how many devices are connected to it.

if there isn't enough power from the ups it won't hurt the system

Id probably go like 750va here.

I have a UPS however its not to backup my main machines but to keep backup power for my networking and server equipment, the server will shut down automatically.

Currently not all of the networking gear is backed up but going to get that sorted soon.

Main Machine:  16 inch MacBook Pro (2021), Apple M1 Pro (10 CPU, 16 GPU Core), 512GB SDD, 16GB RAM

Gaming Machine:  Acer Nitro 5, Core i7 10750H, RTX 3060 (L) 6GB, 1TB SSD (Boot), 2TB SSD (Storage), 32GB DDR4 RAM

Other Tech: iPhone 15 Pro Max, Series 6 Apple Watch (LTE), AirPods Max, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PS3, Xbox 360

Network Gear:  TP Link Gigabit 24 Port Switch, TP-Link Deco M4 Mesh Wi-Fi, M1 MacMini File & Media Server with 8TB of RAID 1 Storage

in the end its all depending on how much capacity the UPS has and how much you consume but overall a UPS is designed to make a safe shut down possible or to cover small voltage drops but generally 5 minutes of run time are plenty for a UPS with a regular computer attached to it.

if you want real uninterrupted operation you gonna have to get a UPS and a backup generator.

the point of a UPS is to bridge gaps, or at least give you the time to shut down. most UPSes for home use, when maxed out, will have difficulty hitting the 15 minute mark.

Does low power damage my system? What exactly will happen? Linus didn't say that in the video

if the UPS cant provide the amount of power requested, it'll either shut down (if its a decent unit), or go thermonuclear (if you buy garbage)

that said, as before mentioned run times are quite.. "minimal". you'd probably want to buy a higher spec unit just for the extra run time of running it closer to 50% capacity.
