Hi all,

I bought a windows 10 pro key (no DVD) from eBay for $12 and I kinda doubt about it but when I tried it worked and windows got activated. Does that mean its a genuine one or that activation doesnt mean its real one and my windows might get deactivated later.

And if its not a genuine key so how did it go through the microsoft online activation process?

Thank you

If you had no issues, then it's good....

not saying MS won't monkey with it later, but for now, you are okay. I got one from Kinguin and it wasn't okay...had to jump through several hoops to get it activated.

It's likely bought in a batch, and there is indeed a chance that you will lose the activation key if they go through and deactivate a batch that they know was used in that fashion.

It's unlikely, but it can happen.

Though, it doesn't matter. You paid significantly less than you should have. If it does get deactivated, just buy another.

I bought a 7 key the same way around three years ago and it's still working. The reason they're so cheap Is because they're meant for retail pre built systems usually dell pre builts so the seller can get them cheap. I don't think it's technically legal for the seller to sell them but shouldn't cause you any trouble. Did you have to phone a number to activate it?

No phone call, just entered the key and it worked.

The key is genuine, kinda. Its taken off some old machine or enterprice pack. Or might be already sold once several years ago. From activation side you are good. But if you ever loose activation, there's big chance that key was blacklisted by Microsoft or it was sold again. Of which case you can try with MS support, but if you are honest, they will not help you. As you haven't bought key from approved reseller.
