No anti-static wrist strap what you do

When planning my build I was planning on buying some anti static wrist straps but my parents won't let me buy it they said it was a waste of money for one time build so what Pro cautions should I take to minimize risk

You don't need one.

 

Just dont stand on carpet and make sure to ground yourself by touching metal on your case.

You really don't need a wrist strap as long as you know what you're doing.

Touch the chassis often to keep yourself at the same electrical potential as the device you're working on. Don't wear polyester or wool clothing (pretty much anything that can cause a buildup of static electricity) and don't build on surfaces or flooring that could cause static buildup.

I have built maybe 6 pcs in my life i have never used one.I always touch my hand to the case first as a ground and im good to go.

Touch the case bare metal often, keep room humidity high, etc. 

 

I build in a carpeted room and with keeping humidity at 55% never have static buildup.
