Halo Infinite

Microsoft just announced a new Halo game:

 

So far the trailer is only an engine demo, and 343 is far from finishing the game. The game will launch on both Windows 10 and Xbox One.

The story will revolve around master chief presumably after the events of Halo 5. 343 has created a new engine for it, called the slipspace engine, and it looks great IMO. According to Aaron Greenberg,  games marketing GM for Xbox:

It’s a story that centers on Master Chief. I think you saw visually some of the capabilities of the engine. We’re excited to share more, but for now: There’s a new Halo coming, it’s Halo Infinite and it features really a focus on Master Chief, which I think will be really received well by the fans.

 

So far, the game looks really good and it's nice to see Microsoft listening to its fans. Furthermore, as a PC gamer myself, I really like that it's being released on Windows, though I would assume that it's only going to be on the Windows store and not on Steam.

Wait it is on Windows? Finally! I can now sell my Xbox One. I only bought one to play Halo games.

What's with all the pessimism? 343 already drove the series into the ground so there's nothing to lose. If there's at least a slim chance I might be able to play a decent halo game on pc I say let's wait and see how it turns out.

Don't buy it, and let the market decide. Seriously, if people didn't buy Halo games, they would stop making them.

 

Personally, I'm excited. I quite enjoyed the campaign for Halo 5, and the direction they went was interesting. The engine looks awesome, but that's a glorified tech demo, so it really gives us no real insight into what the actual game will look like.

 

I'm glad it's on PC as well - though many will still no doubt be upset that it'll likely be on Microsoft Store, and not on, say, Steam.

Sorry, but I have been playing "Halo Online" and halo is a fantastic game. It's such a cool story, has awesome characters, and the reason I switched to PC with Halo: Combat Evolved. I learned that a mouse was easier to aim with when I bought it for PC.

This obsession with game devs making games multiplayer focused is annoying, and I sincerely hope it ends.

 

Many people play halo for the campaign, and I think there's enough interest in both segments to keep making both.

Yep - key element. But so was the campaign. Halo CE had one of the best campaigns out there. Halo 2 and 3 continued that trend. It got a little iffy after that, but despite this, the campaigns have always been enjoyable.

 

To be frank, we can get both.

It's very important but Halo has always been a campaign focused series.  To have a Halo without a campaign would just be silly.

Halo is pretty much the only reason I even bought an Xbox One. Hopefully this game is better than 4 and 5. I'll buy it regardless, but still.

It was always about the balance. A kickass story in a single player campaign, and them awesomely designed multiplayer maps and modes.

It is and isn't it's "future halo".  Just like Marathon is past Halo.

You do understand how multiplier was just kinda thrown in for the first one right? It's why it was so incredibly basic. Halo 2 started building the multiplayer that we now know but the game sold because of its SP.
