GTX 1080 Prices

Ryzen-9

WOW. on a side note amazon will send a "technician" to your house to install it for you for $90. Imagen how many parents put this in their OptiPlex and told their kids they got a "gaming pc".

1070tis are the best buy in that bracket, and they're back down to $450

too bad Vega still isn't fixed.

Yeah, I still don't get why that's a option, or is it still common for a person to randomly think there PC need ram so they buy a random package just for it not to work while also having a technician doing it. Chaos, more like you got scammed $90.

mining is dying down so GPU stocks aren't eaten up every 5 seconds after they get restocked, so prices come down to normal.

Probably Jensen panic selling his gear before 1100 so he can buy a new leather jacket for the announcement.

But if you can spend a bit more this one is REALLY worth it IMO it's bad ass and i would spend the extra 30$ on it in no time flat:

it will never be as good as a 1080 imo...especially in VR...and nvidia optimized modern games...and god knows there are plenty of those nowadays.

True. I wonder how long it'll be before AMD can compete with Nvidia again. The HD 4850 and GTS 250 were fairly good competitors, until the resolution went up. After that, the GTS 250's extra 512mb VRAM made it the best choice.

i remember the HD5870 and HD7970 being kick ass products and i owned these cards...R9 290 vs GTX 780 i picked the 780, 980ti vs Fury i picked 980ti...

AMD lost the plot.

Love the 780, even if it's not as powerful as it used to be.

To be fair, Nvidia's x80Ti cards have a history of being the absolute best on the market.

the last 3 generations of AMD cards have been disapointing imo...R9 390 was a refresh...Fury/FuryX were GTX 980 level and now Vega and Vga 64 are 1070ti/1080 level...for more money and more power consumption/heat... :(

390 was a rebadge with extra 4Gb VRAM, was only better than the 980 in high resolutions and VR xD

It's honestly kind of funny that AMD is still on Kepler levels of power consumption.

It's probably right behind it with the latest drivers, but I meant more on pricing

They just announced that a 7nm Vega chip is coming for gamers, Might be able to just match a 1080ti, which will just force nvidia to release the 1180 to edge it out.

If gamers can get it. Let's not forget the previous gen Vega was also aimed at gamers, but ended up for miners instead.

R9 390/390X we're never as fast as a GTX 980...even in high-resolution...you needed a Fury/FuryX for that...and those were massive 596 mm²

780ti/970 is where the 390/390X had competition

980 is faster:
