[Build Log] Lian Li O11 Dynamic build So Far

linustouchtips

So here we go the chronological build of probably my most ambitious project of my pc building career. A full blown water cooled system featuring Lian Li O11 Dynamic "Der baurer" case.

First phase to this will be the dry run build sorry I have horrible photography skills and only have a phone to take pics so apologies for the quality.

The star is the Lian Li case that I have been happily awaiting for awhile now first off i didn't really need it. But boy is it a sexy case I couldn't resist sorry.

The case is by far the easiest case to work in literally only a few screws everything else just pull up and out of the slots pretty simple.

It was pretty obvious from the start that this case was meant for custom water cooling.

I know what your probably thinking am I a noob at this stuff. Yes I am but hey you got to start somewhere who knows maybe I might get brave enough to do this to my main rig but for now we are only doing this as a side job.

Also I don't have a name for this build either its just a mishmash of parts I have sitting around some old some new. We could call it "der handicapped".

The components:

CPU

Ryzen 5 2600 6/12 3.80 GHZ (Auto Performance setting in bios)

Memory

Team T-Force Night Hawk 16GB 3200 (working at 2933 auto timing)

Motherboard

Asus Prime Pro X370 Motherboard (very stable board)

GPU

OEM Dell Rx 480 8 GB (I know I know its a pitiful card to water cool but I'm just starting out)

PSU

EVGA B Stock 750 BQ Gold rated PSU (got from the EVGA graveyard)

Case

Lian Li O11 DYNAMIC " Der Baurer" (sexy)

Storage

XPG SX6000 128GB M.2 PCIe NVMe

Coolant

Primochill Red Blood stuff (the blood of my enemies)

CWCS

EK (I'll update as soon as I get the parts and stuff)

Builder

me in inexperienced water cooling noob who is trying to do this please be patient with me I'm very fragile

Update 5/19/2018

Dry Run results were successful cpu and memory results were good and stable. I didn't try to go overboard with the CPU I left it set to auto performance for now using Ryzen balanced power settings.

Pics of the dry run & case: https://imgur.com/a/fhfZX40

*note let me know of the picture quality it was mainly just featuring the case and the dry run was actually performed on test bench but all the components were installed inside of it later on.

This will be a continually updated post that will most likely go on for the rest of the summer or forever so hopefully people stick around and see the finish either good or bad.

I'll update again once I acquire the parts from EK. Also I'll upload some more pics of all the case fans and the build inside the case.

Lastly let me know if you want confirmed screen shots of the build like cpu z gpu z or benchmarks will be happy to include those if interested.

To be continued.

i know that's a lot it was just an example. I bought it on HWS reddit for cheaper I'm going by what seller said which was it came out of a prebuilt gaming dell system so no original box OEM warranty.

ooooo... i watch youtubers from the UK so i have heard the term, i just didn't think of it, as it is a rare occurence and i automatically read WaterCooling.

They have a very strong brand image to outsiders but a lot of people have issues with them.  Mine personally are:

  • Nickel plating on plugs stripped off and gunked up my entire loop
  • GPU block has tons of micro cracks, refused to warranty or even sell me a replacement
  • Supremacy evo has a very fragile design that's easy to break, and feels cheap in comparison to other brands
  • my Supremacy Evo had it's nickel plating stripped as well
  • My PE360 had both inlet extensions unscrew and fall off

Others I've heard are:

  • Vardar fans (like 12 of them) being DOA
  • Cryofuel stains everything
  • Shoddy O-rings on the fittings

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

@linustouchtips As you can probably tell from my profile pic, I get my blocks from Watercool (Heatkiller IV lineup)  As for radiators, hardwarelabs win without question.  Barrow makes the best value fittings (cheap and of the highest quality) and I recommend picking up a heatkiller Tube D5/DDC for the res

Sounds like you were pretty unlucky, only issue i've had is an outer seal leak on my old 1080 block, otherwise Ive had no issues with:

recent 1080 block

2x 970 blocks

EK supremacy

EK Gaming 5 monoblock

EK DDC Pump/res x2

5x Varder fans

I cant speak for fittings/radiators as I normally use Alphacool for rads and monsoon/primochill for fittings - I agree Barrow are an excellent alternative

My second (or third? It was square and didn't have the circles) gen D5 pump top, D5 Dbay, R9 290x block, 980 ti G1 block and a few others worked 10/10 beautifully, I've never had issues with stuff released earlier than 2016 or so.  Comparing the 980 ti block with the aforementioned 1070/80 block, the new one was light and chincy feeling, and compared with my bitspower 980 ti block both felt cheap.  The acrylic is less solid, the block itself a literal lightweight in comparison.

Basically, old EK stuff = pretty good (that D-bay was god tier and the 290x block was suuuuper solid) but every newer piece of kit has disappointed me.

Can't wait to see more! I got my O11 Dynamic and half way in the build. I'm not going custom for this build, I'm going to plan to redo it with a custom setup down the line.

I have a watercool AM4 cpu block.  I can vouch it does indeed feel very substantial.

I have a EKWB gpu block.  I personally don't have any problems with it. But my buddy bought EK Vardar fans, And has RMA 3 of the 6.  He eventual sold them all.  They were having alot of bearing issues.

Big fan of hardware labs and alpha cool radiators.  From my experience all d5 pumps are about the same these days.  Price, looks, and # of port and how they are facing for your build is most important when buying a combo/or with a pumptop. Never used DDC's

Perhaps I will give barrow fittings next time.  I have alot of monsoon soft and hard fittings as well as bits power laying around.
