Is there any easy way to go through every status update I have made? Do those stay archived "forever" like old threads?

They should. You may have to look through your activity feed to find them though.

@TVwazhere I have no idea how did I miss it... maybe it changed on the UI update? I remember really looking after it at some point and failing and now I really needed to find 1 specific but already older status update, this is a much handy way to find it than using google xD
