Changing COD4 resolution

Digital Kaos
Go to solution Solved by EChondo,

Try this;

Look in this folder;

D:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty 4\players\profiles\*MAIN PROFILE NAME*

Open up the config files for both "config" and "config_mp", search for "r_mode" and change the value after it in parenthesis to your desired resolution.

See if that works.

I have a 1440p monitor that I can't get COD4 to work right on, with the same pc it worked with a 1920x1200 monitor but I couldn't change the resolution to 1440p in game so what I am trying to figure out is if I can go into a file somewhere and change it to 2560x1440?

Any help would be appreciated.

Some games just don't support resolutions that high. I think CoD4 is one of them.

The game probably just doesn't support that high of a resolution. Maybe a third party mod/patch can be installed to unlock it? Have a look around.

This worked, thank you! When I had looked for that before I couldn't find it because I hadn't created a profile until I used a 1920x1200 monitor.

Glad it worked. I play CoD4, but I don't have a higher than 1920x1080 monitor, and since the game doesn't go higher than I assume 1920x1080/1200 that there must be a setting in a config file somewhere...

Have to remember this later on when 4k becomes more common :D
