What PSU do i need for a 760?

Smiles4Miles

I have a 760 and I'm not sure how much wattage I need for my 760 to go in my build. The specs are an AMD phenom II x4 945 processor 16 gb ddr3 and an optical drive that need power.

Yes, the system should only pull under 300w at load.

Google is your friend :P https://www.google.com/search?q=corsair+cx450m&rlz=1C5CHFA_enUS780US780&oq=corsair+cx450m&aqs=chrome..69i57.4471j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 It's just a certain make of a corsair psu that is pretty reliable. EDIT: read wrong, but yes 450 will be plenty.  Most psus lower than that have way worse quality.

That Phenom is a bit hungry but a 760 is not. The CX450M should be fine.

|PSU Tier List /80 Plus Efficiency| PSU stuff if you need it.

Oh. I heard the 760 was really power hungry and needed a 500 watt

A 450W PSU should be pleanty for the GTX 760, but just saying Guru3D says you should have at least 550W for a GTX 760.

That's not an accurate requirement.

Here's a more power hungry system running fine on a 450w:

Well... a good 450W.  You go out and buy a block of crap that can only do 450W peak at room temperature and all bets are off.

Yeah, more than plenty.

IF you go for a good quality one of course (like Bitfenix Formula), but with a not so great one, you'll run into problems or it reduces the life of the Components...

Those requirements are taking oldish, shitty 500W PSU in mind that have low Amperage on +12V.

The worst one I've seen was a Topower P4 - 336W on +12V in the 520W Version.

What PSU are you talking about?

Remember, we are talking about good, high quality PSU - wich there are only a hand full or so.

Not some random stuff!!
