GTX Founders edition

Recently NVIDIA has GTX founder editions on stock, Im not very familiar with it but what exactly is the difference between founder edition and the other models?

Founder edition cards use a blower fan style, which in the majority of pc cases, runs at slightly higher temps. Higher temps means less overclocking room.

also the founders editions generally come out of the box with slower clock speeds on core and memory. Many of the partner models come 'pre overclocked' compared to the founders editions.

There isn't a difference in the GPU itself, the difference is in the cooling method only, FE cards a bit louder than some aftermarket models.

They are binned though.

They are also easiest to find water blocks for (like ek/alphacool/etc)

They are don't have a good of cooling but the performance difference between them and may other aftermarket card is negligible tbh. If you can find one for cheaper than after market options by a good margin I would pick one up.

If the fe are binned, that means evga gpus are even lower. 

 

 

There are a lot of differences, just depends on what exactly you want to know. 

 

Like an fe conpared to an evga sc. same card, except one has a fancy cooler on it and a different bios. 

 

Or some thing like a Asus turbo that has a crappy plastic blower and different Pcb from reference that isn’t great. Compared to an Asus strix that has a different pcb that is one of the best and has a fancy cooler on it.

Nobody has officially said they were binned. It was all speculation from the clocks + temps shown on the GTX 1080 livestream.

Don't really want to trust one guy saying it once on a stream. Would like to see real stats before trusting it.

The only cards I know of that are binned are the OC variants of cards (like Strix OC) but mostly it's stuff like the kingpin.

If you count last gen stuff like 980 ti and 780 ti, yes, though I'm not sure why that matters.
