Just look at this thing:

That's two fans, a giant heat sink, and a FREAKING 6-PIN PCIE CONNECTOR! A 750 Ti normally gets all of its power from the PCIe slot. It's also got a 60W TDP, so a regular one has a single fan. There are even passively cooled versions.

 

I never thought I'd see a 750 Ti that's the size of a GTX 1080 (which has a 180W TDP).

Holy crap, that's insane! That's seriously a 750 Ti? I don't see the point of them. A crazy high overclocked 750 Ti still shouldn't put out that much heat, and it definitely shouldn't require a 6 pin connector.

 

I wonder if it was just an aesthetic thing.

A stock 750ti already uses about 75W peak.

The 6 pin is required for overclocking in order to not exceed the PCIe specification and light your motherboard on fire like some AMD cards did.

The NVIDIA site says 60W. A 6 pin also seems excessive. The other lower end cards I currently have use 4 pin connectors.

If you look at the power charts of GPUs they spike a lot, it is not a constant 60W.

 

Also there is no such thing as 4 pin PCIe.

This thing has an 8pin connector rather than 6pin even. Not putting it under LN2 is a waste.

 

It's VRM setup is the same as the 770 HOF, though the VRAM arrangement and cooler shroud has changed.

Jesus christ. Those cards are huge. The EVGA cooler looks really nice though. I like it.

How hot do 750 Ti's even get? Are those coolers even needed?

EVGA uses the same cooler style for almost all their cards.

Not at all. They have a lower TDP than any GTX model that's been made since. I had a single fan model and I did some decent overclocking on it. I don't think it ever went above 65. I was going to put this in a machine and sell it right away, but I'm tempted to hold on to it awhile to see how the thermals do.

I think that's the one I had. It's actually one of the bigger models too. A lot of them have that single tiny fan on the die with no real heat sink.

Cheers man, all I need now is a GPU upgrade and it's complete for a while. My 480 is great for now, but since I have a 1440p monitor it'll probably start to struggle soon enough. Was eyeing a Vega 56 before the prices skyrocketed.
