What's a good price to buy a used iPad Air 2 or iPad 5th Gen (2017)?

AlTech

Hi,

a family member needs a new iPad to replace their iPad Mini (Apple A5, 512MB RAM).

Money is a bit of an issue for them hence why looking for used.

What's a good price for a used iPad Air 2 for 32GB WiFi Only or 128GB WiFi only?

And what's a good price for a used iPad Air 2017 for 32GB WiFi Only or 128GB WiFi only?

I'm probably going to be buying off eBay from a reputable seller which has refurbished the device but I just want an indication of what a good price would be.

Thanks much.

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot to mention. Pricing in GBP please. Thank you :).

I'd say around £250ish for an immaculate Air 2, that's what I got for mine(64GB Wifi only). However, if you ignore the seller refurbished ones and bid you'll probably be able to find one for less.

rip. That's wayyy too close to the price of new 2018 iPad where my brother lives.

Well, the new iPad is a really good deal atm(Used and new). I remember I paid around £600 for my Air 2.

Better to pay a little more for more power and possible a Warranty.

iPad Air 2 has a laminated Display, something both the iPad 2017 and iPad 2018 lack.

However: Keep in Mind, the Air 2 has several years behind.

If you consider, every iPad will get updates for 4-5 years... i'm not sure about getting an iPad Air 2, even used (except the price is REALLY good).

If its like "only" 50-100 bucks more for an iPad 2018, i would go for that.

Better CPU/GPU, will get updates untill 2022-2023~ probably, and supports the Apple Pencil (which is a very nice thing to have, if it ever becomes neccessary).

And mainly the remaining years for updates is why i would prefer the new iPad 2018 over a used Air 2.

But if the price is good enough, and significantly cheaper than iPad 2018, go for it. It will be a huge upgrade over the old one.

If you want a very good display, the Air 2 kind of demolishes the new iPad here. On the side of performance, that A8X is a tri-core cpu with a pretty monstrous (at the time) gpu that is still reasonably decent today. Coupled with 2 GB of RAM, I don't think one would find performance to be lacking.

Though the A10 chip in the new iPad is undeniably faster and a lot more efficient. The pricing is also excellent. The battery, being newer, will also hold a charge better.

So, tough choices here.

I've been looking at ebay's UK site and none of the Air 2s are cheap enough to be worth it -_-.
