Windstream communications. Only thing my family can get out here, we live in a really rural area. Yesterday is wasn’t that bad we had our tplink ac1900 router which worked like a dream, never failed us, the control panel or whatever you want to call it was perfect. Today we get an upgrade to 15mbps. (Previously we had “6” but in reality it was 3.) The nimrods come up in here thinking they know what’s up. They say we can’t use our router and that our previous modem couldn’t handle 15mbps. But, beforehand on their spec site for it, it said it could do up to 30 down. So they say no we have to use this new one. Worst thing I’ve ever layed my eyes upon. The windstream wifi modem T3200. This thing is absolute cancer. The UI on the control website thing is a nightmare just to change the password. There is no bandwidth control on devices like on our previous router, and the throughput is awful. For some reason now though, we are supposed to have 15 down yet we are only getting 0.5... with NOONE on either network. The up is 1.2, yet the advertised 15 down is in reality 0.5. This has been a nightmare and it’s only been a day. Trying to convince a bipolar person to take 5 minutes out of there day and call to get it fixed just results in the yelling and shouting of things. So, looking for help here. Although I’m not gonna get any, I would just like to share this. Everyone have a nice day. Also fortnite and csgo is unplayable, with rubberbanding and the occasional kick due to no connection. Keep in mind, no one else on the network. I’ve resorted to playing pc building sim but eh I guess that’s fine. 

 

EDIT: we are also paying 120$ a month JUST for the internet...

Just keeping this here as a So, looking for help here. Although I’m not gonna get any, I would just like to share this. Everyone have a nice day. Also fortnite and csgo is unplayable, with rubberbanding and the occasional kick due to no connection. Keep in mind, no one else on the network. I’ve resorted to playing pc building sim but eh I guess that’s fine. 

You might be able to buy a modem yourself and use that router you wanted. Many US based ISP's allow this, I think its actually a rule under the FCC, unless Nimrod repealed it. (I kinda like nimrod, a good solid way to describe  these people). If not see if they can put the modem in to bridge mode, it kills the router half, that might help as well. This is the consequence of living in BFE, which is why I live in a metro area. While I only have 1 ISP, at least I have one that can deliver up to 1 Gbps. 

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

If you are VERY lucky and do a lot of research, you may have a way to pay couple grand for someone to lay a fiber connection there. Depending on how close you are to any sort of existing infrastructure....

Its called being a business. You want cheese on your whopper your going to get charged for it. Sadly the reason why a cable company isnt in your area is because your not profitable. They need the population density to the extent they can hook 100-300 people on a node. While coax can carry a signal farther than DSL, there is only some many times they can amplify the signal. They are not going to extend the network knowing they are not going to make money off of you. 

 

In some ways its cheaper to move. The next city over from mine has like 4 ISP's now thats why living in the city is awesome.

So, looking for help here. Although I’m not gonna get any, I would just like to share this. Everyone have a nice day. Also fortnite and csgo is unplayable, with rubberbanding and the occasional kick due to no connection. Keep in mind, no one else on the network. I’ve resorted to playing pc building sim but eh I guess that’s fine. 

 

EDIT: we are also paying 120$ a month JUST for the internet...

Ring them up until they fix it. If you are paying for a service they are suppose to be able to provide you at least 90% of the advertised price. If they don't have it fixed in a few weeks of calling, then file a complaint with the FCC.

 

The next thing is you CAN use your own router or even modem if you purchase one that is compatible. If you are using a gateway by them (modem and router in one) then tell them to put it in bridge mode which essentially just turns it into a modem. Then you can plug your router into the port #1 and use it like you did before.

I physically cannot live in the city we visited my cousins in New Jersey, and the traffic, the amount of people, it’s just horrible

According to their website, and I quote “windstream dsl broadband does not support third party broadband modems” and we already have reported them and complained to the fcc once for the outages that would occur everyday for hours

you pay about 60 bucks for 100 down and 10 up with spectrum (at least for me) and I think the max speed you can get is 300 mbps down 10 up.
