During the last WAN show, Luke and Linus were discussing the Nvidia partner program and Luke casually mentioned that he had misgivings about the Geforce Experience app and as such doesn't install it. I'm curious if he's addressed the reasons in another video, and if so which one... Or if someone knows his reasons. I stopped using it myself because I don't use the game overlay and I can't be bothered with the required sign in.

I'm not aware as to why he doesn't like it, I've never heard it mentioned before.

I like the overlay and that it automatically checks for driver updates for me.

I don't install it because it doesn't do anything beneficial for me and I'd rather not install more than I have to when it comes to system software or software packaged with system software.

Like I also don't install motherboard utilities on Windows. Anything they can do I can do in UEFI, and people shouldn't be constantly tweaking UEFI.

Nvidia REQUIRES you to log into their system to get the driver that way.  Then they have your email, system specs, what games you are playing etc.  It's just more data mining from 'a big evil corporation'.

You can go to their site and just get the driver you want.

My only guess is he doesn't like having to log in to access GFE, doesn't trust disabling the telemetry service, and doesn't use ShadowPlay or GameStream.

It breaks literally every update for me. I have to wipe my drivers and completely remove the program and reinstall it every single time it needs an update. I hate it so much.

Yeah I now revert back to just installing the bare driver manually every update. And not install GFE everytime. It sucks you also have to go to task scheduler and disable the telemetry every time you install the drivers.

Nvidia pozzed their drivers so bad...

I wasn't sure if you needed Experience for Shadow Play or not. Unfortunately, Shadow Play is broken for me currently so I don't use Experience anymore.

Reverting back as in going back to how you used to do it. Not reverting drivers. I don't quite understand this comment or what it's supposed to be a solution to.

wrong quote perhaps?

It’s always worked fine for me, though I would be nice to know how prevent it from hurting your performance (like turning something in settings off)

so you need to go and delete every single file and then once you do that go to geforces website and redownload the program

litterally even the stuff in %appdata%

Why would I do this? I can just update it manually. Honestly dude, I have no idea what you're on about. It's just telemetry I need to disable manually everytime because it's not a checkmark in the installation proces.

I don't understand why this is a good solution. You shouldn't have to do something like this ever with any program.

Dude you can just disable Geforce experience during installation. What the fuck are you talking about. Stop offering solutions to problems that don't exist or anyone asked for.

I am genuinly confused what spawned this or why you're bothering people with this.
