Should just get an APU build while GPU pricing is insane

You should either get 75Hz IPS or 144hz TN for free-sync

no reason to get a 75Hz TN display when you could just get a non free-sync 60hz IPS display instead

could easily add an SSD and maybe a basic 120mm tower cooler.

the case you have looks like it has no air flow.

Get a better wireless card if he has to use wireless

and get a USB DVD Drive if the one there isn't already USB.

power supply is pretty terrible and you don't need that much power anyway.

I quite like the phanteks case. it's very well built and doesn't break the bank, and air is good enough your hardware isn't going to suffer.

I also wouldn't recommend building right now but if you have to you have to..... though saving money by buying an APU right now and waiting for prices to go back to normal is a very good idea. you'll lose performance right now but it's still playable at 1080p. plus you're still going ryzen and going down to 4 cores 8 threads isn't a big loss tbh (because of quite a few differences in the core's arrangements) might even perform better.

Primary System

  • CPU
    Ryzen R6 5700X
  • Motherboard
    MSI B350M mortar arctic
  • RAM
    32GB Corsair RGB 3600MT/s CAS18
  • GPU
    Zotac RTX 3070 OC
  • Case
    kind of a mess
  • Storage
    WD black NVMe SSD 500GB & 1TB samsung Sata ssd & x 1TB WD blue & x 3TB Seagate
  • PSU
    corsair RM750X white
  • Display(s)

yeah i'D green light that. expecting to buy a GPU down the line. thought 144Hz is great and all but even the 1080 struggles with it you can get a simpler good looking IPS he suggested and save the 80$ for the GPU. and that's an expensive modular PSU, i personally prefer saving more cash here but this is a more split decision i think.

The ASrock Pro 4 is the same motherboard but cheaper, easy choice

Wouldn't buy an MSI board, the motherboard may also need a BIOS update for the APU

240gb SSD is fine

Case is still going to lack air flow

You want a wireless card with an antenna you can move for a better signal

Would still highly suggest a case with a mesh front

And possibly switch the storage to a 240GB M.2(still sata speeds) an a 1TB hybrid drive, should be plenty fast and save some cash
