1080 ti barely does not fit in case

kage65

Got a 1080 ti and because of the power cables I cannot put the side cover on. It does not clear by maybe one inch. Should I get a new case? If so which one? I just need a wider case, not necessarily a taller one. Thanks.

That is actually pretty nice.

It's also $20 for what's effectively a dongle.

Yeah, definitely an $8 item, but I don't see anything else like it, so they've got the "only one" tax.

Glad my gpu has connectors on the side, don't know what are manufacturers thinking putting them on the front of the card, it rarely looks good that way.

Mine has them on top as well. And it's a really tall PCB for a 480. But hey, I got it because of the amazing cooling solution (inaudible at 68C while mining), not because of practicality.

I though that only worked for standard Pcbs, may be better off begging a cable extension or just bend the cables down.

I’d get a different card before a case.

Main RIg Corsair Air 540, I7 9900k, ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero, G.Skill Ripjaws 3600 32GB, 3090FE, EVGA 1000G5, Acer Nitro XZ3 2560 x 1440@240hz

Spare RIg Lian Li O11 AIR MINI, I7 4790K, Asus Maximus VI Extreme, G.Skill Ares 2400 32Gb, EVGA 1080ti, 1080sc 1070sc & 1060 SSC, EVGA 850GA, Acer KG251Q 1920x1080@240hz

Unfortunately you can't bend down the cables. What is standard Pcbs?

Standard would be reference. Judging by the dual 8 pin I assume it isn’t.

No, Dongle's DO THINGS, at the very least least converting pinouts.  That's a very short, very ridgid extension cable... For $20. o____o

#420blazeit :P

Well, it's like on the edge of being a dongle while looking fancier than an extension cable. Still though, it's $20.

You can just bend the cables hard and hope they don't break.

Either bend those cables (the heat shrink will be tough but it will bend... safely) or get yourself a pair of 8pin extenders. Tons of companies make pretty extenders like cablemod or just buy a $1 version off of an Asian amazon seller.

The Evga thing could work but looks like it may still be too wide. I guess something like this could work?

https://www.amazon.com/Degree-Right-Angle-Female-Inverted/dp/B0749C32X6

yep that will work, get 2 of course

ASUS X470-PRO • R7 1700 4GHz • Corsair H110i GT P/P • 2x MSI RX 480 8G • Corsair DP 2x8 @3466 • EVGA 750 G2 • Corsair 730T • Crucial MX500 250GB • WD 4TB

How would an extender work? Tks

This is a 6 pin version but you can see how it works from the picture. Will give you a few extra inches of cable without that solid heat wrap

https://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-Express-Power-Extension-Cable-Black/dp/B004ZMYBAE

yiu can also get pretty braided versions from companies like cablemod

So you are saying with these I will be able to bend the cable down enough to get the case side cover on? These look preferable as they ship prime while it looks like the other ones ship from China.

Tks

yes thats what im saying. you have the nice bendy bit flugged into the card and the solid bit will be out of the way somewhere more convenient.

BUT...

why bother, just bend the cables, the heat shrink is only plastic, it will bend (unplug cable first tho, dont bend anytihg else like the gpu/pci slot :)

Heating up the heat shrink a bit when bending it will make it much easier to bend, and make it stay that way once cooled...
