$1000-$1100 budget to build a pc

I currently have a pc with a 980 4gb, amd fx 8350, 24gb ram, not sure what mobo, 1tb hdd, 128gb ssd and a nice setup as well. I put my setup up for sale just to see what i could get and I got an offer for $1800 for everything I have. I want to leave about $800 for a new desk, monitor, keyboard, mouse, ect. I need a pc that would be worth it for me to sell my current one and get a new one that would perform better.

it would be best if you could just keep the 980 until the prices fall, it vastly outperforms any card you could get for the price.

Not the worst idea, but should you get a cheap $500 USD or less APU build, that gives you money for next generation GPUs coming in a few months

1440p is pretty much dead IMO, better off getting a 4k display for the long haul.

If you sell your GTX 980, then I'd go for like a $600 or less R5 2400G system, saving the rest for the next generation GPUs coming in a few months. Like the GTX 2070/2080 or Vega refreshes.
