Building a low budget PC

dok1

Hello, I need help in building a pc or buying one in a budget of 500$. First of all, which option is better for this price? Second, I would prefer having SSD or SSHD over HDD, and minimum of 4GB DDR4 RAM. I am not a big gamer, but i would like to run some not so demanding games (such as Dota 2 or online FIFA) at high FPS, with multiple tabs opened (youtube/facebook) without any problems (if possible of course). I know this may be a bizzare explanation but i just wanted to guide you thoroughly into my demands. If I posted in a wrong forum, please redirect me. Thanks!

Why buy a GPU if an APU can outperform the GPU?

Where do you live?

If you're in Canada, Dell has a nice Refurbished sale going on right now. You can get an i7 3770 and some other stuff in an optiplex then go out and buy a 1030/1050 for under $500 CAD.

Edit: I know this doesn't comply with your requirement of 4GB DDR4, but you'd be getting more performance with this build.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Still better than the options I have on eBay for a 1150 mATX board. I would love a Gigabyte GA-Z97M-DS3H but they are expensive

Oh my God, thank you guys so much for such a quick response. I have found similar prebuilt pc's in my country for just bit more than 500$ ( however without SSD because its much more expensive here). Anyway, you have helped me much more than i thought. One more question tho, is there a website or list of some kind which shows gpu's sorted by performance or year of release, because im new to this and can't quite understand all the terminology. Thanks again! <3

Get a prebuilt system with an i7 in it....most probably it will HV 8gb ram.....also u can sell the HDD that's present inside it nd purchase a sshd.

For GPU...I would recommend u to buy something like a used GTX 980/980ti/780ti as they'll provide u with a solid price to performance.

For instance...check out this hp prebuilt ???

It has a core i7 4790 which is still a beast of CPU even by today's standards

It has 8 gb of RAM

500gb HDD ..can be switched to an sshd

W10 licensed copy

Nd the best part is ..this PC is listed fr about $230

Just pop in a decent GPU nd u'll HV one heck of a gaming PC

probably not, or at least not very well. but it's probably pushing gamers to get the lower-end 1030s and rx 550s so you end up seeing them get more expensive.

People need to STOP recommending the 1030.  It's a piece of crap.  Yes, you can game on it, but the price is ridiculous for the performance.  It's a weaker version of the GTX 750.

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!

Dont judge, but.. is r5 ryzen 5 or completely different thing?

EDIT: I have actually been searching for detailed list of GPU's but couldn't find any on the internet in 2018. ffs. Help pls :)

I think so, by a bit...

The only thing the GT 1030 is good for is a low-profile, low power consumption GPU for something like an Optiplex.
