Mining is killing me. Need graphics.

Any advice with that?

Use gpu userbenchmark to compare cards and try r/hardwareswap

I obviously do not have a monster budget. I have been saving for a graphics card, and right when I had enough for a 1050 ti, mining came along and made it cost as much as a 1060. Is there ANY way I can get a 1050 ti or an equivalent for about 130-140 dollars? I just want to play games with high settings in 1080p at 60 fps. Surely the 1050 ti could to that. Even the AMD equivalents are getting really pricey

sadly here even secondhand 970's go for 200+ :(

your best bet if you really need one now for that budget is a secondhand 780Ti sadly.

Just wait it out Nvidia appears to be prepping a new architecture, and cryptocurrencies are crashing, the market will (hopefully) flooded with cards soon.

Probably not, as the 1050ti is probably going to go up.

You know with dram pricing going up etc.

Damn you samsung and your price fixing.

I don't know if they're doing it now or if it's demand but samsung has done it before so yeah.

Shady.

There is, look for GTX 960 or R9280/285/280x/380/380x on the used market like ebay. Also HD 7870. They vary in their performance but they're your best shot at a reasonably priced graphics card.

Or wait out the shortage, it's going to end at some point as the market stabilizes around prices that aren't as enticing for miners.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Okay. This is good. Now one more thing while I dig through more cards. Will having a 2gb card mean that I won't be able to play in high settings for most games due to lack of VRAM? I think medium settings are okay, but high would be a plus

2gb gets a bit limiting, my brother has a 770 2gb and it runs out of vram on total war harhammer.

Most of these cards have higher capacity versions, if at all possible aim for them.

2GB of Vram will be a limiting factor going forward, and you will more than likely start to run out of Vram in certain games at high settings.

Thank you for all the help. The only place I am finding good deals is with the radeon hd cards. I do not know how they are organized, the date that they came out does not seem to make a difference, their performance is all over the place. Last question I promise. Any advice with that?

If you think GPU prices will come back down again to the point they were, you're in for a rude awakening. I'm guessing a $50-100 premium will forever be added to GPU's now. Just like with all the high memory capacity GPU's. They were selling midrange GPU's for $400+ before the mining bubble.

they will, just not immediately, though whenever volta comes out they'll print out gpu's for that architecture and that will help fill demand of both miners and gamers alike

Right now is the absolute worst time to buy graphics cards dude. Wait. I'm sitting on a 965m for ~3 years now, it's glitching out on me but I'm waiting because I REFUSE to give Nvdia $400 more for a entry level graphics card.. I hope the bitcoin market crashes to the fucking ground. Then the used market place will be flooded, Nvdia will have to lower their prices to compete with the used market and we will then be happy.

Hopefully Bitcoin and the other coins crash soon. Fuck em

Depends, do you have another GPU to rely on? Or do you mind not having a GPU for a while?

To be honest predicting if the cryptocurrency market is gonna crash is no easy task. The price has dropped by half the last couple of days, but it's somewhat back to normal now.. There's no real way to predict bitcoin since it's just so unpredictable.. and the people that try are almost always wrong. They predicted the crash so many times, and so many called they said bullshit.

Don't expect the bitcoin market to crash tomorrow..
