WIndows 10 is better either ways, just customize it to behave like win7, download classic shell, revive windows photo viewer, disable notification center and so on, in a day's worth of your time your Win10 will be a Win 7 clone it is what I did.

If anything, it is more than likely that windows 7 won't run some games and not windows 10.

But at any case, whichever windows you buy will run just fine.

ok it was just that the support guy said that there might not be windows 7 drivers for certain components like motherboard and so on.

If I remember correctly, if you run Windows 7 on Kaby Lake or newer, windows update won't work.  :/ (however, I could be wrong)

In my opinion, quite a dick move from microsoft...

You can install Windows 7+. You are generally limited by OS on OEM machines, like prebuilt desktops and laptops. You will be fine either way. I prefer Windows 10, its faster (IMO), and I've had much better GPU driver compatibility with Windows 10 while gaming.

But you can do either.

Microsoft is trying to reduce cost, increase reliability and maintainability of Windows. Some of their other goals are not as noble.

Technically all new CPU's require Windows 10. While Windows 7 may work, Microsoft will not supply any support whats so ever. That includes Windows updates, so that means no Microsoft supplied drivers and no security updates. As the update service will not work at all. If your OK with this, then the next thing I would do is go to each component manufactures website and see if they have Windows 7 drivers. Windows 7 will have some built in drivers, but you cant rely on that for making sure you go drivers for all your hardware.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

An x86 OS will run on an x86 processor. Win 7 runs fine with all the latest CPUs.

If you want it, Windows Update can be enabled on Windows 7 with any newer AMD or Intel CPU. So, no worries, there.

There are always games which aren't supported or are very buggy on new OS'. This happened from Win98/2k to XP, from XP to Vista and from Vista to 7. If games you want to play most are those older ones, then 7 is good option now. You could also dual boot with 7.

based on how sketchy the sites i found that sold norwegian windows 7 seemed on closer inspection i decided i will have to get win 10 just to be on the safe side and just keep the windows 7 pc for those spesific games that it might be issues with. are there any things in the pc that needs drivers outside of the motherboard and graphic card when installing an new pc?

Not really. All things you connect with USB need drivers, but Windows will install basic ones when they are connected. If you have fancy "gaming" stuff with special features, you need drivers to enable those features.

Up to you. Some do it, I don't. Only if you have another OS on it, unplug. I had hard time with Win7 on another SSD.
