Is 85c max safe for 7700k?

tehx

Hi, I have a 7700k clocked at 5GHz, 1.36v using a kraken x62 aio. When rendering, the temps get pretty hot to 85c max. Is this normal/safe?

Thanks in advance

5GHz is toasty even on AIO if your CPU is not delided. 1,36V is very nice for 5GHz.

You mean the VRM on the motherboard? 90*C is fine. Most VRM can handle way over 100*C. You can always easily lower the VRM temp by just pointing fan at it.

It's certainly hotter than I would be comfortable with if running on a regular basis, but perfectly normal if you want to maintain 5ghz.
My personal preference is cool as possible.

Okay, I don't render much anyway. And when gaming temps are only at about 75 so its fine for me i guess

Good Chip.

I dellidded mine and it still won't pass tests at 5GHZ, even at 1.425V.  I settled for 4.8GHZ...

on a 7700k, yeah, about right. all 7700k's run hot thanks largely to the shitty TIM intel puts on the die to interface with the IHS.

Yeah, the 7700K is a hot potato.

After delid my temps are 75-80 under full load like rendering.  Before the delid they were like yours.  I had an AIO but traded for a Noctua D15.  The AIO was MUCH noisier, but they cool about the same.

Set it to 4.8 and then see if you can get it stable under 1.3v.  It will make a big difference in heat production.

Is the shit Tim Intel use

thoes temps are pretty high tho

either delid or drop 100mhz

taking 100 off of max oc will really help temps with hardly and performance loss
