are they rising? i remember when i had my first built i got my DDR4 Ram (8GB) for like 70 or 80.. havent done pc things in a while, was looking at parts for a new build.. jesus what's with ram prices?

From what I understood, Samsung had a factory fire a year or more back. The demand had increased and they've been unable to make more due to the fire.

Hi, I've been living in a cave :D

 

j/k OP - this has been going on for about the last 6-12 months approx, more so the last 3-6 when it rose even faster. DDR4 DOUBLED it's price since I bought the exact same kit in Nov 2016, now it's like £180 and more in some shops.

My £32 budget ram costs £95 now, or £110 for what I managed to OC mine to.

in my next build it is a productivity build.. won't be having a gpu in it, putting most of budget into ram, storage, and a 6 core i7..

And getting higher. There are reports that nVidia's next gen cards might have a 10-15% price hike compared to Pascal.

can be useful but not needed as much

 

some ae work but not enough to spend an extra 100-450 on a gpu
