The SteamOS torrents are up. It is Unofficial, however it is posted on the Steam blog, so meh.

Keep in mind that we are not affiliated with Valve!

It's here! SteamOS was just pushed to the official repository. More information will be added to the post as soon as we get it.

Check yesterday's blog post for more on SteamOS. Keep in mind that it was written before today's release.

I'm pretty sure it's only against the COC to link to copyrighted non free torrents where as linking to a torrent that is legal to torrent is fine.

People, quit associating the word Torrent with the word Illegal. Just because something is a torrent doesn't mean it's bad. SteamOS, a FREE, OPEN SOURCE operating system, is LEGAL to torrent. Meanwhile, Windows, a PAID, CLOSED SOURCE operating system is ILLEGAL to torrent. It's not torrenting, but the content that is being torrented.

Also, I haven't the slightest idea how to torrent a file. I have uTorrent, but I cannot figure this out for the life of me.

Whats the difference between SYSRESTORE.zip and SteamOSInstaller.zip ? One is like around 2gb and one is 1gb...

I'd be wary of unofficial versions. Wouldn't be surprised if someone spreads a virus at some point since people are so eager to try it out, and there isn't an official download link yet.

Guys, this isn't illegal. Torrents in and of themselves are not illegal. It's the contents within that torrent that could be illegal. SteamOS is and will be a free download anyways, so this is not against the CoC.

Actually, torrenting the ISO for Windows is legal since the ISO by itself is useless. If it comes with a keygen or crack though, then it's illegal.
