Is this 2000$ build any good?

Heppe3K

Soo I finally have enough spare money to replace my 3 yr old gaming/photo- and videoediting build and get a new top of the line one which I'll be using for AAA gaming at 1440p 144hz and Creative Cloud applications like Photoshop, Premier and After Effects. I'm upgrading from an i7-4970K OC:d to 4.6Ghz and a GTX 980 and I have a budget of about 2000 USD, I put together this quick build and I'd love it if you could point out any flaws or tell me about anything more priceworthy

Thanks.

P.S. I already have drives and an OS

You could do with an SSD if you don't already have one.

Perhaps Ryzen would offer you better performance...at least on the productivity side of things. Not sure what you prioritize first.

Looks pretty good, RAM is pretty pricy but that's kinda just DDR4 :(

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I know Ryzen is a good way to go if you want a ton of multicore perfomance, but I wont be using this pc for that much videoediting and outside of that theres not much I'd need 8 cores for. I've already decided to get the 8700K cuz of it's good gaming performance as well as having those 2 extra cores.

But speaking of RAM, would more than 16 gig be necessary in any situation?

No, it won't. Adobe CC prefers per core performance

Perhaps a cheaper, lower wattage and better PSU. Other than that, it looks fine.

:)
