90-100% CPU load gaming

tehx

Hi, I just wanted to check this was normal for my hardware. I am getting 90 - 100 CPU load on overwatch (everything turned up to epic - render scale 100%) 100 being in big fights and in destiny also 90 - 100. This is sometimes bottlenecking my gpu down to 90%.

1) Is this normal?

2) If not, how can I reduce this load?

Specs:

i5 7600k @ 4.7GHz

ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1070 @2GHz

ASUS STRIX Z270F

Samsung 850 Evo 240GB

WD Blue 1TB

Kraken x62 AIO

EVGA SuperNova 650 80 PLUS GOLD

Edit: background tasks use about 10% CPU at the most

Yeah, it's pretty common with 4 cores.

Nothing to worry about.

Oh okay, do you think 7700k would reduce this?

I would take some under load temps just to be sure.

I have kraken x62 temps never over 50

A faster cpu would fix the load problem seeing as the cpu has to be overclocked to 4.7ghz and is still being fully taxed.

a faster cpu at stock speeds would be a smarter option.

Yes, but if you're getting the FPS you want and primarily only gaming, then it's not worth the upgrade.

upgrading to 7700k isnt worth it, ud be looking at a 8700/k which would be a new motherboard, depends on ur budget i guess.

Basically what this guy said.

Though it's a great option for a future upgrade.

If your GPU goes below 99% often turn up render scale a tad.

What difference does render scale over a 100 make though?

Slight visual improvements if you turn it up enough the video should look crisper similar to playing at a higher resolution. Sometimes I notice more FPS with it past 100% because it puts more load on the GPU so the CPU is not bottle-necking.

Wow really? I did try 144 render scale and I did lose about 10 frames and I can hardly notice a difference visually. I prefer having render scale at 100  and having less input lag. Thanks for the suggestion though

What I'm probably going to do is just invest in a higher res monitor to take full advantage of the gpu. Might get coffelake in the future but not now just bought a z270 with 7600k

Common for me. My rigs are too crappy to not use the cpu and play like dodo.

i think it's been confirmed intel's coming with ice lake 2018 with 8 cores, i think 8 cores will be mainstream like 4 core was,
