Which GPU port to use???

PrithwidipSaha

My monitor only have VGA port and I'm going to buy the MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X which has DVI, HDMI & DisplayPort. So clearly either I have to change my monitor or else use this vga to dvi hdmi diplayport cables but right now I can't buy a new monitor so instead I want to use the cables so which port should i use also can anyone suggest a good cable. Thank You.

you need an active HDMI/DP to VGA adapter

as said earlier, this card (according to the website) only had DVI-D (digital only) so you will need an ACTIVE adapter,.... or..... try find a ok dvi monitor second hand

why would you still use a vga only monitor with a GTX 1070?

If you can afford to I'd strongly recommend getting a newer monitor. VGA sucks for TFT's

What monitor, deserving of a 1070 had only VGA?.. you should probably get a new one

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

What monitor deserving of a 1060 had only VGA then? That's a card that will mac everything at 1080p, I have some absolute garbage monitors at under 720p that have more than VGA, the last time I had a VGA only monitor was a CRT

Worse I had paired was my old GTX TITAN X on a LG 1650x1050p60hz LCD monitor through DVI and it was a temporary solution until my first LG ultrawide... buy the latest GPU for an outdated monitor doesn't make sense if one wanted power but was set in keeping the outdated monitor should have gotten something like a second hand GTX 980 ~ 980 Ti or even R9 290/390

Ok so will this perform good

It should work for your purposes but im not sure if it has any drawbacks, you dont have any other options untill you get a new monitor
