Ive always wondered if this is just due to the sheer number of people on the planet today. If you can throw more brains at the problem, you get better computers, better computers then let the more brains do even more work etc etc

it's on old celeron 630 that some guy included with an old motherboard, had a 478 pentium 4 a couple months ago but it's stuck in a landfill somewhere now

My CPUs: They're not too old, but most consider them to be ancient so I think they fit.

Intel 8088 (released in '79)  and zilog Z80A ( released in '79) , both dating 1983.

Not the oldest, however, the computer itself has some older supporting chips, such as this intel P8251a PCOMM chip from 1980

Not counting the manufacturing date but rather the release date of the CPU. 

So it's actually from '79! Or am I missing something?

If we're counting release dates (not manufacturing dates) , then there's a few things to consider :

The intel 8088 was originally released in 1979. 

The NEC 8088D - 02 was a reverse engineered clone of the intel 8088-2 itself an updated version of the original 8088. 

I can't find the released date of the chip, but the original 8088-2 by intel launched in '80, so the NEC variant must of released later, likely in '81 or '82 ( because it was reverse engineered). 

Release date typically trails copyright date by about a year. 

 

It gets messy, but it does seem my chip is a few years older by that definition ( as much as i hate being the guy that points it out).
