4x Titan V prototype

venturi
I decided to build a compact, small but powerful pc in a desktop /mid size.

Here’s what I built tonight:

Prototype 1 (my personal pc)
Dual Xeon E5-2699 v4    44 cores / 88HT
Super micro X10DRG-Q ver 1.10
Heavily customized Th P3 case / glass panel
1 960pro (2TB) (Os drive)
10x 850pro (2TB each) RAIDed (Apps Drive)
512 GB RAM (ecc reg)
4x TITAN V
1500W+ digital tiatanium PSU
Ubuntu, MS 2012 Server R2, MS  2016 Server
4k ProArt 329q monitor

Used for research, medical imaging, nuc med, isotopes, DB, and games

It's not loud and runs quite cool, whisper quiet at idle.
CPU coolers are from noiseblocker and are motherboard auto throttled to about 600rpm at idle
Titans are quiet at idle

under load, you can hear the titans spin up, but its not bad or intrusive

In a 72'F room CPU temps at idle are 75'F-79'F under load they get as high as 96'F (35'C)
In a 72'F room the Titans V's are 97'F under load the get as high as 172' F (78'C)

I made it an open design on purpose

Wow. Just wow. Someone has to ask, How many children did you sell to put this together? Easily over $20k. Very impressive OP. I'm sure that will load Minecraft just fine.

On a separate note.

Considering the castrated thread with 4 1080ti's. I'm curious how long it will take for the type of people to ruin this thread  "You don't need that" "what a waste of money" or "your could have done this instead and bought a lambo with the leftovers".

Good Luck OP.

Thanks for the link!

I7-7700k@5.1ghz + 1080ti @ 2050mhz + 32gbs Ram + 2TB SSD = CSGO

i7-6700k@4.9ghz + 980ti @ 1501mhz + 16gbs Ram + 1 TB SSD = Backup

i7-3770k@4.8ghz + 680 4gb + 32gbs Ram + 500gb SSD = Retired/Office work

i post in both places

if you search this forum you’ll see my other builds using the same motherboard combos

always multi cpu

and

if you search this forum you’ll see that I was the first person to do fully functional quad sli with titan x and titan xp

Nice build. I assume you run VMs on this?

Also god damn. I am surprised this runs on one PSU. Could you post a pic of Wattmeter how much power it draws from Wall idle and during load?

Nice setup!

Considering how this is not mainly a gaming machine though, how much computational power do you need for those workloads? I assume a whole metric buttload, but damn!

Wow am I jealous now! This build though deserves a better explanation of what you are using it for then just one sentence. What kind of research do you do? I my self study complex systems and machine learning. I also just bought a new system for school work ^_^ If you want you can send me a message and we can discuss how we use our systems ^_^

I also got to say I absolutely love the case, just the right level of component display and no RGB ^_^

Second 4x Titan V PC I've seen on the 'net today.

nice.

I know this isn't meant for gaming, I love how the build looks, but, CAN IT RUN CRYSIS? It looks amazing, do you mind me asking if this is for your company or for yourself (for work)?

It’s for me, I bought it / made it. It does get used for work as well, but that’s my choice.

It it does get used for research, nuc med, medical imaging, isotopes, physics, and yes, games ;)

why not get a 5th titan v while you are at it? you have the pcie slots for it?

edit: just realized it would interfere with ram

I did have a 1050ti in that 5th slot

but it seemed out of place

it was cool in the nvcpl to see 4 Titan V and the ti

the x10drg-q motherboard has two additional unique features of great value:

1 - let’s you use all the 7 slots even if 4 slots have two slot wide video cards

2 - the primary video slot is the lowest slot on the pic; so your primary video card is the coldest card

AWESOME!!! I would love to hear about your work. Scientific computing excites me but for me unfortunately it would be pointless to build one, not being a scientist I don't have anything to study with one.

Benches are coming

I’ve been busy. This whole “working for a living” this keeps getting in the way ;)

Also I’ve had to do a few clean installs and just now I’m back where I was

The problem:
I was using happily win server 2012 data center and dodging win 10

Well these cards only have drivers on 3 OSs: Windows 7, Windows 10 and Ubuntu

So PAINFULLY... I moved to Windows server 2016 data center

I had to get rid of telemetry, the way it does updates, the instability, all the background crud, preserve my privacy, and spend hours in the registry fixing things that have been broke without a fix since the day it was released. I have been in DCOM, registry, group policy, local sec, Serv mngr etc all BEFORE I even installed the first non MS app.

So that took a few days to learn from scratch, conquer and fix.

Then to use nvidia GPU CLOUD you’ll Need Ubuntu - so now I’m getting my secondary boot drive (another 960pro 2TB) loaded up correctly for that - well plenty of fixes in that are being undertaken.

So

Benchmarks are coming

Some fun things I was able to do in the meantime on the titan v’s :
Finished wolfenstein new colossus and the old blood
Finished Echo
Finished titanfall2
Finished a few other games

Got amazing performance on wolfenstein new colossus pre-patched

Anyhow

Benches are coming
