Volta is not coming to the mainstream, it is identical to Pascal aside the Tensor Cores, the TITAN V is just a TITAN Xp on steroids (HBM2 and more of the same CUDA Cores).

 

You'll have to wait until 2019 with Ampere architecture release for the GTX 2000's series.

 

TITAN V released due to the need of those Tensor Cores on the enterprise level.

Are you sure about this? I haven't heard many architectural details about Volta so I'm not sure if we can confirm nor deny exactly how different volta is from Pascal.

Well the CUDA Cores are the same for both architectures, so the only way to add performance is adding more CUDA Cores with large dies as the massively big one in the TITAN V, something we know is not commercially viable for mainstream.

 

Sure we have to wait longer for the confirmations however we do have plenty of signals, for instance never before nVidia started a mainstream line up with the TITAN card alone, also this TITAN card is the very first to completely ditch the GeForce GTX branding.

 

It is a specific card for a specific case... it really shouldn't be taken for example of what to expect in the near future.

anyways yeah im seriously waiting for the last time now. im tired of the endless question of should i stay or should i go. next gen from nvidia im getting one no muzz no fuzz  running a 770 on a 1440p ultrawide is really not glorious at all and although i was really hoping for vega ill have to accept that amd right now makes no god damn sense at high res if you have high quality standards.

so ill power through for now and then ill go on a 3 week gaming vacation whith whatever nvidia brings out to make up for time lost :D theres just so many titles im not even touching simply because i know its gonna run crap and look crap and i dont want to ruin the story now because ill never go back to it. so....puuhhhh *deep breaths* just wait....its gonna be awesome....just wait....its go...

Quite frankly simply because AMD is only bringing Navi around Q3 2018 and nVidia already has the best offerings on the mainstream market on every tier and the 1080 Ti is still on a tier of its own... I know the millions and millions of dollars invested in research for each architecture from a commercial stand point nVidia only has profits by delaying the release... Sure it is douche bag like Intel did when AMD couldn't compete but money moves the industry.

As far as I know AMD releases midrange Vega GPU's in Q1 2018, and Navi will launch on Q2 2018(August). It will have been 2 years since Nvidia released new lineup by then, so I see no reason why would they skip it, even if AMD doesn't compete much.

Where would a midrange vega gpu fit in the market? Seems the price point and performance of one is already taken up by the RX 580.
